spot on there !

Hoping for some nice surprises too as seller didn't take pics of it all (spares).
The spare car is "full" inside. >>>> see picture. Nice 'patina'

A lot missing though on this car although rust certainly isn't. A lot looks like surface rust as it has been out in the weather for some years, but this might have gone further, will have to wait and see. There are no seats or grille or tail lights with this car though so would be a bitza if if it can be re-buillt. Body is pretty straight though.

Things seem to be going well. Container is nearly packed and due to be moved to the shipping yard soon.
Also bought the 117 DOHC/ 5speed too which should just make the container packing in a day or so..

I will need some help to move cars etc when they arrive this end. Any volunteers?

UPATE!

container with the Sports inside should arrive on 19th Sept.

Hopefully cleared from Customs within a week.

Leaves precious little time though (about 2-3 weeks of spare time work) to check the Sport over, get it running, get roadworthy etc and maybe, make it to Merimbula.

All presuming there is nothing major to be done to the car.... wishfull thinking most likely..

Hi Jason........ yes, on the water I think and getting damm close now. The 'dream' is coming true.
Need to make some space !

i think you might be right on the wheels. they are starting to grow on me ....... so many black wheels about these days too. They go with the bonnet and rear side vents too.

i could swap them sometimes for the spare car Mags too....... I hope the tyres are usable too.

What size are the Watanabe's? I'd certainly be keen on a set of those, whether you'd like to offload them or I find another set, need to know what I could get away with.

These are the ones I really want though!

Outrageous by the time they're here through IM though. Guess that's the price we have to pay. :(

You don't have to pay that much!!!! :o ....Could be had delivered here for considerably cheaper...

I had two sets of watanabe's sent to me via surface mail for a couple of Prince GT's - easy enough to do and would work out cheaper than IM's container & associated freight costs  Granted there is commission payable..I charge commission too(but cheaper) & bank/paypal costs...

Or i could get them shipped in a container as well - but again, considerably cheaper...

Plenty of options for wheels in Japan. Watanabe's (used) are easily obtainable... and cheap too!

An interesesting encounter that confirms (?) Bellett Sport is rare.

I rang Shannons for insurance on the car. They never heard of a Sport and will only insure my Sport as a GT-R coupe as they only have them, GT's and sedans on their list !

You'd go 'sedan' for a cheaper rate, wouldn't you, or doesn't it make a difference? After all, that's what it is. :?

I gather this means it is very close to hitting the road?

Glenn,

It is looking like I will have my new D Max before you get your Sport
My car has arrived at the Dealers and is now waiting for the fitting of the canopy, tub liner, tow kit and window tint.

ITS A RACE!!! You need to get rid of that Holden ute Glenn??
I must admit the Dealer in Dubbo has been great to deal with so far!! :D
I suppose it might have helped that when I was in Dubbo talking about the D Max the dealer was having a visit the next day from the people from ISUZU UTE, the Guy had me sign a copy of No,8 Max D magazine and they took it back with them.

By the way Max D magazine No.9 has just been released if anyone is interested
Keep us updated on your progress, if I was closer I would have assisted you!
Dave M.

Hi Dave, you will beat me for sure !

I don't think the Sport will be exactly road ready when it arrives. (only 2 weeks now) I live in hope of course but know reality means it might take some time to get it running and roadworthied etc.

Love my Ute though so it's staying for a while yet :)

:o ............... ................... :D

Maaaate, semi-retirement! Thats the go! You wont be sorry, but then the busy times start. At least you've been down this resto road before and we all know you can do it, very well.
I'm looking forward to the process, and result.

Cheers, Matt.

we all want to follow the journey please Glenn so plenty of photos from the wharf pickup all the way thru the re-build to the finished car.

it is really very exciting to get the first Sports in AUS.
did you ever find out what happened to the quite nice one with the missing fuel tank that was for sale in Jap.
i made an offer on it and never got a reply!

its getting exciting...
