  Yeah Geoff they aren't really in keeping with my style are they.

They're not staying on Donkey though, just put them on for trial fit. Will be putting similar size wheels on the blue 69 sedan down the track though.

Flappers are stayin' Broom Broom. Donkey wouldn't be Donkey without them

Wow Geoff!
Donkey has really got STANCE with those designer shoes on :o
I am surprised they fitted in the wheel arches being that diameter an all.
I guess you may have some rubbing when steering tho.
Good to try on different shoes anyway :D

width also....... i always though 6" wide was about it for a Bellett. Maybe the very low profile tyres helps here

I've had wider in there Glenn.
I had some 14x8 [+37 offset] rims that juuuuust squeeeeezed in there but the max tyre width I could have on the 8's without massaging the arch was 195/55 stretched on the rim. With a little massaging of the wheel arch a 205 will go in on 8" rims (Gerry's GT has 16x8 [+35 offset] Ray's wheels with 205 tyres in the rear as a case in point)
It all comes down to getting the right offset and tyre combination, even tyre quality will effect the issue. Cheap and nasty tyres with soft sidewalls flex to much in corners and makes them rub a little.

I also have a set of 14x6.5 [+29 offset] rims with 225/50 tyres that fit in the rear too, I match them with 14x4 rims with 125/85 (cheese cutters) on the front. Not much chop when it comes to steering into corners though.
I've been told by numerous people that 8" rims won't fit and 225 tyres won't fit.... but if your get the right combination (offset/tyre width + profile inc manufacturer/brand) they will.
HOWEVER 225's on an 8" wide rim will NEVER fit the rear without arch "massaging"

Some of the tyres sizes I like to use are hard to get in quality brands here in Oz (ie 225/50/14, 205/55/14, 205/60/13) so I occasionally get them sent from the UK. Sometimes cheaper believe it or not.

But Donkey is a unique creature with near as many eccentricities as his passenger (me) so there's probably not that much surprise if these wheel sizes fit him and no other Bellett on the planet.

Another key factor is having the right springs in the rear too. Ride height of the car will effect camber in the rear as we all know, so you have to have the right spring/ride height giving enough camber for those rim/tyre combinations to work.
I use FX Holden springs lowered 1 3/4 inch in the rear atm and STD front. Gives Donkey the saggy bum stance that I personally like.
Front will most likely be dropped a little in the near future though.

Thanks Bellett Sweden. That was one of my mates VW beetles, a 63 or 64 I think but not exactly sure. I was storing one of his 56 oval windows under my house at the time and he had dropped in for a beer and a chat.
I love the early VW beetles and kombi's, I wish I had an early single cab splitty ute 56/56 model but a they are a little out of my price range these days.

It 's a shame that they have become so expensive, but your brother's matador Oh dear what a car and the single cab is really really nice! :D

Maybe the wrong place but here is a picture of my 61 a panel van.

That is a fantastic panel van, with the sliding windows in the doors too. I like that alot.
That's the sort of car I would love to have for work instead of my old 4WD Mitsubishi ute.
Thanks for sharing
If you have more pictures of it and bit of a story about it you could start a thread in the "Other cars and bikes" section. I for one would love to hear some more about it :D

Just before I left for Perth my laptop had some what of a meltdown. I was hoping to have retrieved most of my data off of it but unfortunately it is totally toasted and I have lost EVERYTHING!!!
Invoices and quotes for 2 businesses, 3yrs worth of tax deets and over 10yrs worth of photos inc camping trips, holidays, road trips, national meets, jamborees, car shows, weddings, baptisms, births of nieces and nephews, family, friends, cars, belletts........ Ive lost it all with no backups

very sorry to hear that. I sympathise with you, having lost a lot of stuff recently on a USB stick. One day it just refused to work in any PC i have, toasted ?
I try to back up and in this case i had a backup but way back in March so could reconstruct a lot of it. But its so easy to not back up on regular basis, I know.
I hope you were able to get out of it one way or the other.

There are places that can retrieve data of crashed hard drives though, but at a cost.

Post subject:  Re: Dear Donkey.....

I have paper copies of most of the business related stuff as I'm a bit old school that way but I had no backups of photos and other things.
I won't loose any sleep over it though, it's just stuff
Besides, I will have more holidays and see more cars and will always love my family and friends even if I don't have a picture to remind me of what they look like ;)
It's more the inconvenience it has caused then anything.

Road trip to Sweden?!
HELL YES!!!
Just as soon as I teach Donkey to swim :P

Yeah one of the neighbors has a Tardis letter box and we had a full size Weeping Angel near the front door.
Used to scare the bejeebas out of people as they came round the corner of the house
