Hey guys,

Well i've picked myself up another bellet, they've kind of grown on me

I saw this car last november i stalked this poor girl down port adel,
and i was like OMG you have a bellett (first time i saw another one apart from mine)
she told me it was her nans etc... i said if she ever wanted to sell to call me..
so she did last week!!

Her name is zoe, and she had to sell because her 3 kids dont fit in the back lol!
her father owned a gun metal grey gt bellett that sold for 10,000 (hes in the bellett car club apparently).

I've paid $1,000 for it and has heaps of spares!
They've replaced one gasket WITH the LAST one in australia apparently :ugeek:
She's also given me 4 brand new tyres too, which she scored for $100 and a spare windscreen
to replace the broken one.

I'm sooo happy man, its so minter.
runs soo smooth for a 40 something old car i'm so impressed

She said she got it up to 90 miles on the freeway= about 160kmph
She said the car shaked like hell lol!!!!

I'll post some pictures 2morow, its too dark now! just think 20 tmes better than my old hunk junk lol.

Congrats Mon,

It is amazing once you get into something - lots of the same come out of the woodwork.

How many Belletts are you going to stop at - I think Dave has the set the bar ;)

Hurry up with the photos - it sounds great.

Somebody else who has been bitten by the Bellett bug :)

It's funny how once you own one you start collecting them!

Can't wait to see the pics. What year is it? What colour? Oh, the suspense :D

Cheers,
R.

Must be good, 'cause the 1 you're selling looks pretty good to me. Pity I'm not closer.......
I think they send out homeing beacons - I started with a '67 for the nostalgia thing, then found a '65 to get the diff, then a mate comes across 3 G.T.s, a wasp & a '65 in a paddock, so now my broth owns the '65 and one G.T. and I own the wasp & other G.T, and a very rusty parts G.T., then a fella DELIVERS me a '67 from 800 k's away! Now another mate finds a '65 column benchie just 20 k's away in a shed! Good thing I've got plenty of room here!
For the wanders, I suggest first check shocks - should stop bouncing as soon as you stop jumping - then check for movement in the steering rack ends - they are adjustable - then tie rod ends & ball joints. Also jack up & check wheelbearings - might need a grease & tighten. If all tight, you might only need a wheel alignment - with no power assist it's amazing how much the wheels will pull. I have the settings if you need them. Oh and don't have odd tyres on the front. Hope this helps,
Matt.

Well i'm not the most organinsed girl, and i've lost my cd to my camera LOL.
and i cant load the photos hahaha:P so i will have to suss how to do it :geek:

Well i have a few problems with the car.

Needs a break booster- but if i change the booster i loose the hub caps.
I don't want to loose these. So have any of you upgraded,
and kept your hubbies? which have you used etc.

I've found the shockers i need, dreading the price  my partner said
all the rubbers, ball joints or something need replacing- don't go all technical
with me

He might post a few things, and sign off as him on my account.

We broke down near windy point other day, it said i had 1/4 of tank,
and i didn't it was empty so i'm going to keep refilling at 1/2 a tank :x

YES, i'm coming bay to birdwood its so smooth to run. it does 130 mile without
rattling or anything ;)

Hey the shockers are just HK-HG Holden items (not HQ onwards as they are too short). This should be not-too-bad pricewise?
What's the deal with the hubcaps?

My car has got galant discs on the front (not as easy conversion as the Magna job, I think - more machining involved) so it still has the original 13" wheels and hubbies.

Does the Magna conversion require you to lose the 13" wheels?

I mean, if you've still got drums with a booster, then there shouldn't be any effect on the wheels or anything at all. Just more boost. (brake boost, not whooosh boost)

My partner was looking into the magna conversion, and said i'd have to loose the hubbies.
Machining won't matter cos he's a machinist, so i can have galant booster:S?

Dave can i have your number, your bellett pro and i dont have to sound dumb on the internet and
my partner is more car-technical and can just call you:P

Damn, i can't put a break booster on and have a whoooosh boost *SIGH*:P

I'll give you my number, but I am mechanically retarded! I know what stuff is, just not how to DO stuff!

Having said that, your partner could probably take a look at mine and just go "oh yeah that's easy".

I'll be in touch!

Well hi there miss mon,

Like a fessed b freak !! Just done some work to front end of the ol' GT. Thought this might help smooth out the rusty old bed springs !! That vintage must have at least 8 grease nipples up front. Pump some grease into them even if the boots are ....ed ! Use a flexi nozzle on the grease gun or you wont get to any of them. USE PLENTY OF especially the two on the steering rack, left and right. Jack up the front end dead centre on the chasis just enough so the steering FEELS like powersteer. Move left to right to get fresh grease along the rack ,youll'e hear it. That was job one. NEXT !! The rack is bolted onto the chassis crossmember by two brackets with a rubber spacer ( damper ) under each, which fits into a reccess in the rack. The rubbers were ....ed and had at least 1/2 inch play. Handled like a liguina pasta fallen off the plate and out of control. Soooo ! Undo the brackets ( two bolts each side ) when the front is still on the jack. Do one at a time. Scrape off and clean any molten rubber excess off sufaces, then cut a rubber thong out of 2.5 mill inner tube to fit, and screw them down again with new spring washers under the bolts. Wow,.... no more rusty bed springs, and tracking down the road good enough to peel a bannana at 3500 rpm, aren't they just so much fun !!! Welcome, and hope to see your weapon at all Jap day. Dave, have you registered ???

I used an old radiator hose to replace my steering rack bushes - worked well.

One thing about owning a Bellett is - you have to adapt to what you have and what you cannot get - using parts from all around your shed - keeps your brain workin'

Cheers,
Neil

Yeah man but I haven't heard back from them. They normally take a while, plus I got my ratter and my GT in last year, so there's no reason that the ratter and the Wasp won't get in this time. One of the main players there told me by email a year ago that he was a bit excited about seeing the Wasp, so I'll just assume they're still working on it!

Cheers

Dave
PS - Mon if you haven't already you have to register your car with Alljapanday.com.au (see events sectino) otherwise they don't let you in as they don't take entries on the day.

Cheerz!

Sure thing Mon ! But do drop in to all Jap day, and take the B for a spin so we can check it out.
Rear brakes (and hand brake) are being installed in my GT Beastie as we speak, almost ready for a spin in the hills. Almost got some better front seats out of my brother in laws Gemini, sadly parked in his back yard for two years. Unfortunately he was very indecisive even after offering him whatever price for them. A bit disappointed seeing good seats rotting and vermin eaten if he leaves them in there, just can't convince some people !! Must sign off so I can register for All Jap day, or else I'll be leaving it too late !! Looking forward to meeting all you mad "Belletters" there.

Cheers, B
