By the looks of it, it is already "off the gun - metal grey", no further work required - lol

But I have to admit I do like that silver look on the GT's.

But then the Reed's GT was my first and only experience so silver-grey was all I had for comparison.

Feedback from my car collecting /buying client care of his Japanese connection was "wow these are rare beasts' and finding one at decent coin in Japan would take some effort.

However I've CFO permission to build another race Javelin, so my current hunt for car's is well on the back-burner for now. But I am doing a TIG course in June to help enhance my future repair skills.

I'll just continue to stalk this site and drool over the various finds that continue to pop up.

here are some pictures after the windows came out. Some of the original silver grey can be made out. Small amount of rust but nothing that cannot be fixed.

removed the hood lining today and discovered two holes with captive nuts in both B Pillar. These were covered over by the original trim, could they be for lap sash seat belts?

I've only known of 1 being there. Not 2. My first sedan ('67) had them in it. I didn't find out about them until after I wrote it off.
They look like, and I could be wrong, someone has been experimenting on the position of the top of the harness.
"B" pillar trim hides lots of things.
After the panel has been pressed the nut for the bolt is welded onto the inside of the panel and in production the outer and inner are welded together.
The hole for the nut is a lot tidier than that.

I reckon Dave could be right. Holes have been "ovalled" out to let the nut slide in on its side then stood up. I could be wrong
too..!

That's really odd to have two positions. Maybe one for the Japanese market and one for exports. ;)

Besides I would've thought they were only lap seatbelts back then in the early models.

Congratulations a PR90 on its way to be restored,admire anyone who takes on a project like this,as for colour take a look at all the GTs on here and wheel combinations,they all look great,I even had a Pink one sometime ago :roll: so glad to get it at the time,GOOD LUCK,Gerry

All seatbelt mounting nuts worldwide are 7/16" x 24 threads per inch. (TPI). UNF.

Hi Peter,
Excellent to see you working on such a rare car! Let me know if you need any specific photos of my PR90 Inside or out to help with its reassembly.
I have attached a photo of the original sticker under my PR90 bonnet ( that I carefully removed before its restoration in 1991 then reattached) showing paint code 0088 Silver Grey (as per the brochure of the 1967 Bellett Gt.. but same colours as PR90.....Isuzu White or Silver Grey)

It was repainted in Acrylic Enamel back in 1991 very close to the factory colour. I beleive the actual formulations for the paint codes were hard to find even back in the 90’s s, so a lot of matching by an experienced painter was done for our belletts and other Isuzu’s.

In 2011 after some areas of that paint job were failing and some bubbles appeared I bit the bullet and stripped the car of external bits then took it to my local panel shop who talked me into refinishing it in water based 2 pack. Not the best result for 2 reasons
1. The old repairs on a few panels, although isloated with the relevant undercoat still allowed moisture vapor to push through to create some bubbling in the flexible 2 pack layers.
2. The colour match of this 2 pack to the factory silver grey is pretty good in low light or the shade but under bright sunlight it does appear to be more silver.

I am still very happy with the even gloss finish it has after 7 years but I would definitely recommend to repaint yours in a solvent based paint .....steer clear of water based 2 pack!

PAINT COLOUR MIXING

This is a very old colour chart with paint mixing details.

It may not be valid with up to date colour pigments but a good paint shop might be able to help.

I have some more info, just trying to dig it out.

OK found another..... I think this is the GTR style orange.

Have no idea what all the numbers mean though. Paint shop might help again here.

This is later information, in late 1992.

The tinter names were current then but I don't know about now. Dulon acrylic colours. 1st column is tinter number, second column is the amount of paint to make up 500ml of paint.

Silver grey metallic is what my GT was (now Dave's car).

Thanks for the info about the paint guys. Bit creepy that you should include the GTR orange Glenn as we have been tossing that colour around. We thought that an old LC torana colour "Lone O Ranger " was close to it.

I know it is not original and it is a rare car but when I visited Craig the other weekend we discussed colours and his PR90 is Silver Grey as well. Seems like they were all or mostly Siler Grey so not sure about two running around Adelaide in the same colour.

Long way off yet before paint so I am sure there will be many conversations to had regarding this point. I will pass the info to my painter I am sure he will make something of it.

Yes most GT's seem to be silver grey, some the olive colour but much rarer i think. White of course.

I like original but you can paint any colour you wish. Most of us would just like to see more Bellett's back on the road, in the end. Good luck with the project. Keep us posted..

Ditto Glenn. I vote colour, any one you love. Silver grey is great, in the day it was new and unique. But it started a trend that has made shades of silver and grey the most common thing seen on the road, even more than white. Look at new BMWs for example.

Hi

Mine was Olive Grey Metallic
Code 97
Isuzu Colour 231-P1

I found it too dark was detracted from the lines of the GT

When it came time to repaint it I chose Prism Silver from a Honda Civic of the day.

I concluded that the lighter Metallic colours suited the shape of the GT better and highlighted the different panel shapes.

If you painted it say Black it would turn it into a blob due to the proportions of the body vs glass area.

Just my opinion

We would love to see yours in any colour roaming the streets of Adelaide.

Hope to catch up at some point with you and the rest of the Bellett family here in Adelaide
