as quoted, and stated in other threads, use sedan rear springs in the front to lower approx 2 inches.
there are 3 different spring rates in them, identified by a small coloured paint stripe on the coils.
white is heaviest, yellow is middle, red is soft.
my GT uses "white" fronts, and "yellow" rears.
BTW, every standard GT i've seen has had yellow springs all around, so the white ones work well as a replacement when lowered.
shock wise, i've used "gabriel" brand gas shocks front and rear. they are listed to suit the front of HK-HG holdens. u need 2 pairs of these fronts, (ie: a set for the front and back).
i've used heavy duty ones in the front, and standard duty in the rear.
supercheap auto stocked them when i built it in 2007.
if your bellett has a standard-ish amount of suspension travel (as 99% do), use these fronts from the HK-HG, as they have a good amount of travel. if your car is very low with little travel (ala my race car), use shocks from the front of a HQ holden all round. they have a shorter stroke length and won't bottom out like the HK-HG ones will in this situation.

pedders list a range of gas shocks for the HK-HG. have a look at their website.

Thanks PR91. Doing shocks all round soon, so saves me digging around other threads...very timely. Hopefully get together with 2ldohc in the near future, kindly donating some time and rear springs for the front.

GTorphanage, your "better" half sounds as inspired as the rest of us. Welcome to her and wasp. Just amazing dedicated work there mate, thanks for making time to throw up progress reports !!

Just to clarify before I head out and order some shocks, PR91.

So your recommendation for a standard suspension travel Bellett (ala yours/mine GT) is:

Two pairs of HK-HG Holden gas fronts :

That is heavy duty ones for the front,
and standard duty ones for the rear.........either "gabriel", "Pedders", "Monroe", or any other brand perhaps, whatever is more budget conscious for me, but will still do the job.

patches went to a panel shop this week to be sprayed he will be about 4 weeks away as most of you know he was put aside due to walters rebuild and isabell being a total pain in the a$$.i have spent most of today going through his bits as i cant remember what i have had done or pinched for other cars. wow where do i start :roll:.
bundles for powdercoating,chrome and the upholsterer. Man i feel like i have done this before :shock:.

patches returned home for 4 weeks he has been booked into another panel shop as he was being neglected :cry:. I have a few things to do during this time as the pressure is now on as Lizzies eldest is using him for a wedding car in september and more importantly then off to coona :lol:.

Farmer asked if i sleep? Liz will not let me now i have 19 weeks till this car is done.no 2 wedding car :shock:. as mentioned i have it for three weeks then its off to be painted.

those pics you have there GT orp are superb.

reckon the pic with half the side missing and the cold coffee sitting on the firewall plate is a classic.

the wasp ute i have sitting up at the shack will need a build not unlike that before its back on the road.

Ok oz some fresh coffee picks today, i got it running again. It still needs a exhaust,tail shaft back in later tonight when the paint drys and new uni joints fitted and its almost a driver again :D. I am waiting for the fuel bowls to come back as the chrome was a failure. I have a spare set in the meantime. The wiring needs a little more time for tidy up but the picks show it fully wired but a few point need retaining. The brake need bleeding again as they are a little spungy.
[the photo's engine bay is dirty mainly bog dust from the panel shop but i need to keep the body dry]
As for women issues it's more fun when you know your in trouble when you come in at midnight ;) . adds to the sport.

quick question. is that Holden Red that the block is painted as the original red of the GT block was a blood deep red as i have the original engine mount with the original paint that was used to match the paint i used for my GT block. (make some sense of that sentence!) guess it dont really matter if your not doing a factory resto anyway :)

Looking good in the bay there mate. It's a nice dilemma you have - which Bellett do I work on?
My prob is more 'which DON'T I work on?' - keep walking past projects on my way to other stuff. "sigh".
