New Wasp On The Block

engine is out and the engine bay is getting a clean up,with our resident panel beater off work i thought i would give it a go instead of being the ta.what better than to practice on someone elses car :lol:

Love the spiderweb effect Greg is that some sort of special paint you're using or fust mother nature

I am only responsible fo inside the engine bay.If i could paint that pattern i could start a new trend. :D

not having much luck with that one not even alowed to hide spot welds,original motor even having second thoughts on twin carbs?Ken it looks like yours gets the chev.Liz is leaving it close to standard a little dash mod,black engine bay and a differant shade of green maybe a few little dress bits here and there?? If it goes to coona she may ask for engine mods when she cant keep up :lol:

we can retard the timming :lol: its 1 step closser to coona painted engine bay complete and no spider web effect yet,a couple of dust specks the fiters in the open air spray booth let me down.

It was the second time i used a spray gun i didnt even get a run?I hope its on thick enough,a few dust particals i dont know if i should denib or not i will loose some shine if i do.I had to make a few phone calls along the way 4 to be exact but i am happy with the finish as long as does not curl up and fall on the floor[24 hrs so far so good].

See, it's a good thing to mention stuff on Bellett.net. It seems Black Betty and Walter have a common heritage. I have a message from Eric explaining that they both came from a family about 20 km from Inverell in NSW. He passed the Bellett & parts to me and the Wasp & parts to Glen. So I was very happy to find a spare Wasp grille badge among the bits. :D It probably came off your Wasp!! So of course the right thing to do is put it back where it belongs. Another thing for the 'Coona box'?

the words thank you cannot even being to express how I feel for you donating the badge to my wasp. Even though I am making some changes to my girl I really want to keep alot of things original(engine,etc). It makes me so proud to think that you will let me put back the badge. Can't wait to see you at Coona.
I appreciate how rare this item is and your willingness to part with it. It puts the parcel and your wish list into perspective, and as mentioned on another thread, the importance of this forum and friendships that are developing.

..... i have a spare here for my Wasp, but it's not in very good condition tho.... read: poor chrome, alot of pitting, etc. better than nothing if nothing else!

Oh, that funky paint scheme is called "CRAZED".......will come up nicely twin carbs or not, Ms. Leadfoot !!

Very eary, Dave was telling me about the steering configuration in a Wasp today, and how it's one of the fundimental differences from the Bellett rack and pinion. Guess what !! You've provided a great pic of that wierd ball and strutt arrangement. Oh yes, the planets are aligning !!!

IT LIVES
We put the motor in over the weekend and it fired up again like a little champ 1st pop.We pulled it out to do the clutch,crankshaft seal,replaced manifold gasket ect when the carby was off Liz cleaned it all up. The carby was upside down and dry. The engine bay had been strippped and was all back in now.I was happy to wind it over a couple of times make sure it had spark ect with new fuel lines, filters ect it had no fuel available yet.Its 1030pm a couple of windovers before i call it quits wont hurt get some oil pressure and pump some fuel ready for next time we get to it. vr r r vroom no exhaust shut it down have a sneek look to see if neighbours are still awake :D few they were.I am buggerd if i know how it started but it ran long enough for me to get from the solinoid to the key and shut it down must have been a little fuel somewhere. At least its keen.

Yeah !! It's late but W. T. HECK, great news. The neighbours must've thought there was a 1940's Biplane idling in the back yard :lol: :lol: I get that when the GT fire's up (running resonator only, no muffler, um, bit naugthy, but goes well 8-) )

Walter has been striped to bare metal and repainted and by the end of this week he has to be ready for the upholstery shop to be completed it has been trimed around the front and rear screens and the glass has been refitted hoodlinning has been installed with a free dent in the roof not happy jan.We need to repair and respray the whole roof again.Next monday the upholstery is to be done and it is our plan to have it finished by then with only the tray to go.He was not disassambled as it was a quick rolling resto and he had very little rust the sills only needed a little lovin and a small hole in the floor pan.[these were welded]If all goes to plan he will make his first appearence at the racq autofest in july.Liz wont revial the colour at this stage but you will need sunnies when you see it.

Good work you guys! It's all go in the sunny state! You've had a busy few weeks, and we're itching for pics, but I get it - you want to do the grand unveiling. Glad you went the retina burn colour choice - can't wait to see it (I have sunnies reddied!)
