My mate had an offer.
it went something like this....
wondered if your interested in an old car my friend has parked in his back yard. its been there quite a while and is fairly complete.
you will need to get it out of the yard. He is getting too old to restore it and wants it going to a good home!

It's a 1948 morris 840 2 door wagon. Is going to take 6 to take 12 months to get it out of its current parking spot as it has to be moved a piece at a time. Can't find any pics on net of a wagon the same, only utes and panel vans. If anyone has any pics could they put them up. Not sure if this might be a one of a kind?

Morry Z ute? It's not the tourer, as they had a separate screen, but looks like the fixed roof ute someone has added a wooden back (and doors) to. Finding another set of doors shouldn't be too much of a hassle...cool project!

Hi degruch,
Chasis and front end panels were originally delivered to Aust. without any rear body work. Was end of WW2 and metal was rare. All the cab from doors back is wood and is original as assembled when arrived in aust. Thinking it may have been a special order.

The Morris Z were all rag top with a wooden tray. Mate had one when I was 16, :D :D we thought it was a great car for pulling shielas, Didn't seem to work much :( :( Will make a good woody
Cheers

My grandfather had one ( ute ) in early 1950's. He bought it new and built a ute body and cabin (windscreen back ) using timber frame work ( he was a carpenter ) and clad it in unpainted aluminium sheet . Looked quite good and served a purpose. I remember riding in it. I had an earlier , but similar , (1938 ) Austin 8 which was a rag top ute. Bought it at an auction when I was still at school for 6 pound 10 shillings (approx. $13 ) in 1964 and I still have the receipt, some pics and a sound recording of it churning out all of its 8 h.p. .
