Post subject:  rear wheel cylinder problem. Help !

Hi folks,

jeff in Scotland here. Got weeping seals in my rear wheel cylinders. Bores look good, seals look knakkered. Anybody know a replacement seal off the shelf from another manufacturer. Want to try to avoid resleeving for the time being.

Many thanks, jeff

less than $10 dollars each. older receipts say $5.15 but from memory last few i bought were still reasonable..

and still easily available. most PBR seem to have stock on shelves

not so sure of O/S though

could always drop a few in the post, Jeff.

Hi Jeff I think but I can't be 100% that you can use Morris Oxford seals or you may be able to use the entire wheel cylinder. As you are in the U.K these might be some thing you can get your hands on.

I have just spoken to tomanybelletts (craig) and he uses Morris 1000 rear wheel cylinders on one of his cars. You have to change the nut as the bellett brake nut won't fit.

If you do go down the path of using another part I would love to know the part numbers and costing as I might grab a couple for spares :D

mr 65 bellet,

So delighted to have this site with fellow bellet owners, as these cars ain't falling out of the trees here in Scotland. Theres only 1. mine.

Have tried to use MG magnette rear wheel cylinders which look pretty much identical to the morris 1000 ones as recommended by dick in Holland. Could not get rid of the air from the system as these cylinders don't have any bleed nipples. Be interested to hear how craig overcame this.
Also googled pbr trying to find part number p5151 but nothing seems to come up - dont understand why as i can see p5151 printed on the packet of the photo that oz toffa posted.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys

Jeff

PBR do a local numbering system here in AU so unless someone else is selling NOS or stock online, it probably wont show up.

I was quite serious about putting a few sets of front and real seals into postage and send over. and also Master cyclinder kit if you want it.

just let me know. direct work email is chris.browning@oce.com

If you already have the wheel cylinders and they fit you are half way there. If you use this part
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rear-Brake-B ... 4158wt_812
you should be able to bleed them up and get out there Belletting.

Mr Oz toffa, think I'l take you up on your offer ! Think its better to keep parts as original as possible so I'm gonna run with re sealing old cylinders and keep the brake bleedy thing in reserve, but thank you for the info 65 bellett - if either of you guys (or anyone on the forum needs stuff sourced in Britain give me a shout).

Thanks all, Jeff

Glenn I have no doubt BGT would have them or would have no problems getting hold of them and they are over your side of town now.

Post subject:  Re: rear wheel cylinder problem. Help !

I don't need them as no car but thought if they were available locally might stock up anyway

I found some but a bit of a drive away

didn't think of BGT though. I have dealt with them many times in the past. They did the clutch in my old GT too..

* BGT have been in Dandenong for as long as I can remember.
