It was also the first Japanese car with a DOHC engine, and the first with electronic fuel injection.

I love when they cut and paste this quote from rumorpedia, and the car they are selling is a SOHC carburated model.

The engine looks like a Gemini series?? Have not ever seen another engine like this in a 117.
Has someone done a conversion.

That engine may have been in one of the later ones. It is definately not a dohc. Maybe IZU069 has the drum on the engines. The boot lid looks like iot has a great deal of BOG in it.To the left of the star badges. Might be worth 5k at the most. Still not sure about the engine. But GM was in bed with them by then so any bloody thing could have happened.

It's a G180 or G200 SOHC engine, and not fuel injected. They were apparently available with diesel engines too. This one also has an automatic transmission. Without the DOHC engine or a manual transmission, it should not command top dollar, even as a running and restorable car.

The steering wheel is wrong, it should be a big plastic thing on this one.

Also, this is the later style, square headlight, mass machine produced model. The only advantages of any of these is the G200W engine, which this one does not have, or the extra gaudy Giugiaro special edition, which this one is not. No one selling the later cars seems to want to mention that the early, round headlight, hand built cars are rarer, more desirable, and command a higher price.

They're really nice looking cars, but other than being drivable, that one does not stack up as one of the more desirable ones. And they have leaf spring rear suspension, so it's not something that could be taken out on a piece of twisty pavement for a lot of driving gratification. They lend more to interstate driving and luxury touring.

XT is the base no frills model and the two stars on the boot lid indicate that it has the G200 SOHC engine but with no fuel injection. Interestingly, it has power steering which was not an option for the XT model but in the later years it was possible to order options contrary to what the catalogue stated was available for that model.

Thanks for the info 117. I have never seena gemini base engine in 30 years of watching and photo viewing Isuzu cars. Must have been very few of the base model about.
Makes the car unusual but maybe worth even less. And i reckon it has been tarted up to sell to wonder how much rust is really in it??
