Hi all.
Well 1 single day is a long time in the Bellett family, but today is in a good way.

As those of Facebook will (or should....) know, the CJCC in Qld, the ICCA in NSW and now the BCCV in Vic all have dedicated pages. If you're not on any or all of them, I suggest u get to it after reading on.
Qld rep Greg has proposed a 'State of Origin' style day to get as many Belletts and old school Isuzus out in each state at the same time, and via discussions today, it's now developed into the
'Big Bellett Birthday Bash'
to be held in each state (Qld, NSW, Vic and SA at this stage, as these have the main amount of cars, but of course we want Tas, NT and the rest of the world if they want to join in!) on either August 23 or 24.
This date has been selected to celebrate 50 years since the Bellett went on Australian sale on Aug 21, 1964, and by holding local events we hope that it will give as many people in the family the chance to be involved if they can't attend the Nats in Oct., and we can keep everyone around the country up to date as the day goes on with reports and pics on FB and bellett.net to truly make it a national day.

We'll keep u all info'd with respective events, but let's all PLEASE make a huge effort to celebrate what will be a once in a lifetime event, and surely nearly 6 months to organise it and getting yourselves ready will make it fantastic!

Cheers.
Brett. BCCV Pres.

Obviously it will be, and will be cross promoted between all 3 clubs via their own media as well as on FB and bellett.net so everyone is info'd.

Hey all.

Looks like the date MIGHT BE moved forward a week to Aug 17, as the NSW guys and girls already have a big event that day so it would make sense to combine the 2 ideas with this as well.
Is just a suggestion ATM, but just keeping you all info'd.

Many more details to follow, but is only early days lads. The idea only came about on FB yesterday!

Cheers.

Mat the prize will be to show we have pride in our old tin 8-) Just to see how many we can get out there. Thoughts at this stage is a small fee per car and a penalty fee for several cars from 1 owner. We are disadvantaged as 2 members will not be here when it happens.

Venues? Just thinking,
It would be apt to meet at a park or oval near the original dealers locations in each state.
Griffon Motors in Brisbane, Esquire motors in Melbourne, I forget the dealers name on Parramatta road in Sydney. There was also Malcom Motors in Newtown.

Hey Davo, I saw the Beatles in the old Stadium, I mean "saw" the Beatles we couldn't hear then due to screaming little Babe's!!
The Mate I went to see them with in a 1950's something, TF MG, has now passed away in a truck accident quite a few years ago, we had some fun those days!!

In Sydney it was Griffon Motors also Lewis, the dealer where I bought my first Bellett sedan :o I was in the Army those days.

Hi Guys,
Any confirmation on the dates yet ?
I am in favour of moving it forward if possible. I will be able to attend that week, but unfortunately my wife shares the same birthday as the Bellett's, so if I want to see my next birthday, I will not be available for the following weekend.

Adelaide dealer was Martin Distributors and he was located very close to where Shannon's Insurance is now on South Rd, Edwardstown.
maybe the SA faithful could meet there?

Yeah that shouldn't be a problem although I'll have to check the diary as sometimes we get car clubs using the car park on Sundays (not often, but it would be just my luck they clash!).

Hmm, we'll have to better the six we got at All Japan Day, I guess.

Wasps count, but do Florians (all pre-GM Isuzus should count, methinks)?

Not sure where or what Centennial Park was back then, BULLITT, but the only Centennial Park here now is a big cemetery! Don't think it would be tasteful to hold a gathering there, although someone should use it for when the last Commodore rolls off the line.

Cheers,

Dave
