Hey Belletteers!!

The 2013 Bellett Nationals will come around before you know it!

The full itinerary is yet to be finalised, but accommodation will need to be booked pretty soon...

The dates are:

Saturday 28 September – show & shine at McLaren Vale + gourmet BBQ lunch
Sunday 29 September – Bay to Birdwood Classic

(like in 2012, we should organise a cruise for any remaining participants still around on the Monday)

We recommend participants stay at:

Marion Holiday Park
323 Sturt Road
Bedford Park SA 5042

Phone: (08) 8276 6695

Website can be found at:
http://www.marionhp.com.au/

The Marion Holiday Park is a few kms from the Bay to Birdwood starting point, however they are a much friendlier park that the one we used last time in West Beach. For a start, they are NOT precious about people parking on their grass!!!

HOWEVER, the 28th and 29th of September are in the MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. This means that the park WILL book out.

As a result, we was not able to secure any discounted pricing for participants. <sorry>

They have several different types of units; you can review their accommodation at:
http://www.marionhp.com.au/

There is pricing to suit everyone.

They seem to charge by the person rather than by the cabin.

Studio Units are the most basic and can accommodate 2-3 adults (depending on if you’re up for spooning in a double-bed) and they can fit a single car outside. The pricing actually changes that weekend, but the quote I got was $465 for a couple on a 3-night stay.

The mid-range stuff includes the 2 and 3-Bedroom Bungalows. These will accommodate 4-6 people and can park 2-3 Bellett-sized cars each.

The top-of-the-line stuff appears to be the Lagoon Units; they will accommodate 6 people and feature a private deck overlooking the MASSIVE pool. These ones can fit usually about 2-3 Bellett-sized cars and will cost around $850-942 for 2-4 adults.

For those on a tighter budget, there are some other cabins that will suit; the Holiday Units will sleep 5-6 people and are good for those with kids, but have literally no adjacent car parking; cars can be parked on the grass area across from the units by the Sturt Creek. Gavin Porthouse stayed in one of these with his wife and kid a couple of years back and was allowed to park his car and trailer on the grass.

I would also suggest this area is prime to leave car trailers for the duration of your stay, even if your tow car is parked nearby at your unit. The park requires swipe-card access, so the trailers will be secure.

Sorry we haven't got more details or info, but it's early days yet. However, because of the school holidays it's advisable to BOOK NOW!!!!

One Bellett person has already booked (they SMS'ed me directly... and they were not at 2012, so they're making up for lost time!!!).

Put together a crew!

Stay in a speccy unit with mates!

Or a cheap one by yourself!

Whatever you do, book it soon! You can secure a unit with a deposit only.

Oh and Stickman and Gerry... PLENTY of camping room too!

Finally, the park is a lot smaller than the Merimbula park we were at in 2012... so let's get in there and book it out!!!!

Cheers guys!

If you want to speak to me direct about anything and don't have my number, PM me and I'll send it to you.

Heya Mark,

The Nationals are normally closer to October; it's just this year we decided to do what we did in 2009 and combine the Nationals with the big Bay to Birdwood Classic (1800+ classic car cruise).

So maybe NEXT year!

Cheers,

Dave

Kim and myself will be making the 'flying' visit this year, without a car for the first time tho, as it'll truly be a case of arrive, enjoy and go.
we'll fly in on Friday and be gone again Saturday nite as the Sunday is her b'day, and as it a bit of a milestone, we'll be celebrating with family at home while the Bellett's invade the B2B.
roll on September!

Hey there Dave,
I'm not yet booked until the rest of the family work out what they're up to, but I'm definately IN.
I would not miss a Nationals if it's humanly possible! (Gotta keep the record intact.)
Present thinking is a fairly quick trip over and back, but will at least be there for Nationals, B2B and the Monday Criuse.
We did the 4-weeks-holiday-with-long-service-leave in 2009, but this time will do the spend-the-least-ammount-of-money thing! (Sounds like a tent site, betta get a Gerry Coccoon!)
Thanks for starting the epic ball rolling!
:D :D :D
Cheers, Matt.

Hey Dave,
I'd say that you could ride with me in Donkey (no shower required before but definitely advised after  ) but there is every chance the passenger seat will come out for the road trip to make way for a makeshift cot. I may not be able to afford accommodation costs on the drive down and back so Donkey will double as my motorhome for the trip. He'll also get a few more ratty changes to his appearance before heading south too, and people thought he was ratty at Merimbula.

A campsite will be my SA lodgings for the Nationals again and will be booked as soon as I have my outstanding invoices paid.
Bring it on already!!!
