Wow Davo that's wild... the reason I say this is that literally every article or advertisement I've seen for the Florian in Australia has been based on the early version (ie GT Orph's new acquisition).

Of course, that was the one that would have created the excitement amongst the motor-noters of the day. Little did they know it was not the runaway success that it perhaps could have been (you know... if it had handled and been able to pull the skin of a custard).

So to find both an article AND an advertisement on the second, more common model is awesome!

While the article isn't clear enough to read just off the eBay advert, the date and magazine ID is... Motor Manual magazine, July 1970.

So I did an eBay search for that.... and found another copy! It's the whole magazine for $15.00 with free postage. So I've already hit BUY IT NOW on that one!

Cheers for the heads up! I don't have a permanent search going for the Florian on eBay coz the Bellett stuff gets me in enough trouble!

Also, pity the Florian isn't on the cover... it's a Datsun 1200 coupe doing a wrap on the dirt with full wheel covers, so that's pretty cool anyway (but not ISUZU cool!)

Cheers,

Dave

Oh NOW I've just realised you can only see the first page and the advert and the article goes for more pages than that....

Bah ignore me!

Oh no!!

BULLITT messaged me and said something along the lines of.... "I don't mean to start nuthin.... but I've got a copy of Modern Motor July 1970 with a red Datsun 1200 coupe on it,".... meaning for me not to get mad if I'd bought the wrong magazine!

I have to admit, I just searched for "Motor Manual July 1970" and got a hit, pressed Buy It Now and the rest is history.

HOWEVER, searches can be inaccurate (you'd know this if you've ever bought a sermon book by J G Bellett) and I thought, "Crap I hope I haven't just spent $15.00 on a magazine I don't want and probably already have!".

Turns out that little Datsun press car was spread pretty thing in July 1970...
