Does anybody have a set of the glass covers that go over the number plate lights that sit under the boot lid. Mine are completely knackered and dont really want to use them on my complete resto job.

cheers guys.

They are hard to find good one's. But easy to reproduce usualy when you want to make this stuff they want orders of 100 or more, I have been thinking of trying to get them made as a bulk order as they would be halfed by the number of cars.

Waldo.

Lens. 8263-1815. rim. 8263-1426. lens packing. [has 'o' ring seals on screw holes] 8263-1783.
body packing. 8263-1784. or go for lamp assembly with wiring harness & bulb socket. 8263-0409.

I've checked all the Datsun/Nissan models and there is nothing of that type in their vehicles. If the Toyota will
fit, try them and let us know. We have a couple of roadworthy guys in Qld. that are pretty stringent. I suspect that
other states have them too.

Have been toying with the idea of making my own from some old headlamp protector perspex. Using a holesaw in a
drillpress. Cutting a disc with a hole inside for the bulb to protude and then cut another disc to glue over hole, just
large enough for the rim to hold it in place.

One day I'm going to ring work and tell them that I've got too many of these ideas to try and Haven't got time to
go to work. Good luck.

Dave.

Dave if you cut the disc to suit the hole remove the bulb and put a piece of led strip in there,my maroon car has led strips in there.

Of the very few Bellett bits i have left, i do have a lense but its cracked and opaque.

Were these lenses clear when new ?

A passable version might be made using polycarbonate rod of suitable diameter, them machining in a lathe. Using flat stock would be cheaper (I have some) but is problematic though, in holding the stuff in the lathe.

The holesaw method works pretty well.
I just made one from 4.5mm polycarbonate sheet as it does not dis-colour like perspex. (and i had some)

Took the centre drill out of the hole saw, then used the smaller one to make initial cut about half depth. Then next size up, cut the disk out. The 1st hole saw is not exact size so had to run a file round the edge to make it fit through the metal cover.

Used a drill press. You must clamp the material down of course. There is no dome to the made up part though. Since i don't have the rest of the lamp fitting, not sure if there is an issue with the bulb being too close or touching the 'new' lense.

If the bulb don't fit as i said earlier led strips are like a tape you have two wires and cut them to length mine have 3 leds in each.

the LED's are a great idea. There are all sorts of LED's on ebay which would work well in these lights.

I don't have anything but the cover plate pictured here, so can't look at that side of things. Mind you, no Bellett either !

I have another idea in mind also, to put a chamfer around the outside edge to make them look a little better.
