anyway, would be PR95N, not PR91N!

seriously, a much lower engine HP output is a major sign, as is the air con under the dash.
when they were new, a 1600 GT-R had 120hp, a 1800 GT had 115hp, and the GT-N was 100hp....
the rest of the car was all 'normal' GT anyway, so some engine work would make it 'normal' too.

Brett, are you sure the Air con was part of the GTN 'option'. I have seen a few GTN's with no air con.
No bonnet vents either, i think

all the factory documentation i have (and there's alot of it these days) states the basic specs in english but most of it is in japanese... the single carb stuff is english but there's no underbonnet pics. the air con stuff isn't written but it's clearly visible in all the different pics of the interiors on a couple of cars so i'm lead to believe it would be standard GTN fitment.
as u've seen tho, most GTN's are twin carb now so it's not hard to think that some if not most might have had the air con removed at some stage in the last 40 years too.

an update,

The late model GT I showed interest in:- with the vendor agreeing to see if he can 'fix' the dodgy brakes.
Immediately, the price went up :?

Here, a car must be sold with a RWC as we know. ie the brakes must work ! It appears not so in Japan !

Brett, not sure but i think the GTN's do not have vented bonnet either.

Wouldn't be relying on the cars advertised on YAJ too much. Firstly you will struggle getting any reply as you have probably realised car. Most people i know would steer well away from most classics found on YAJ - unless it is a 'true' bargain....

Private or specialty classic yards is where you need to look....

Here a couple of others that have been through the 'real' auction houses recently (both did not sell)!!

It's hard slog for sure but buying at auction is tough also........ from what i can tell, there is not a lot of notice when these cars come up so you have next to no time to get info on them. The blue car i think i have seen before on yahoo though.

more........ there's a car on Yahoo right now that looks fairly good. Grey 71 GT, SOHC.
One owner car.

has damaged left front guard, dents in rear quarters, severe rust in the bonnet leading edge and also one side rusted through
.
Has run out of "inspection" in Japan which usually means a lower price i think.

Is still at auction with 5 days left right now. The importer is currently in Japan and I got him to contact them.

what a SHOCK, they want 1,780,000 Yen for it. About $24,000 plus shipping and costs.

this will be another car that is pulled from the auction at last moment, as the market decides it's true worth. But not what they want !

The light Blue one is the same as mine, except for front bumper and head light surrounds.
Do you know if it made any bids or just passed in?

I still like that 117 that is going in NZ tomorrow

Glenn (or 'his man') is correct - no bids were placed.

The light blue one is currently for sale for an asking price of 693,000Y. There is another 1/2 dozen pictures of it..

Has he been able to source any new ones for you whilst there Glenn?

For sale for 560,000Y (asking price)

If you find one in Japan, I hope someone is negotiating a better price than the 'advertised' one for you.

Most of the ones you see on Yahoo Japan that are being pulled off early are being listed by the same seller which i am sure you are aware - Isuzu Sports Car Shop.

Another.....

Although considerably more expensive at 1,300,000Y

Should be able to get a GT-R for that price i presume....

Isuzu Sports are the biggest bunch of crooks and swindlers on the Japanese mainland!!!

they think because we are not local, that can treat us like crap and jack up prices to who knows where.

what confuses me the most is that they are still trading as a business. must have bought stacks of cars 20-30 year ago for next to nothing

i would just plain refuse to deal with them just on principal and if i had 20k, would trip to Japan and travel everywhere for my car, but there!

cheers

Post subject:  Re: Looking for a Bellett in Japan

yes, i have seen that one with damaged left sill. It's not mobile though so out of question for roll on /off shipping or i would have bought it. There are others in the same boat (no pun intended) that are reasonable price but not mobile or no brakes when we ask.

The other white car is very nice ! But i don't want to pay that sort of money plus shipping. Thats serious money for a Bellett. I figure close to 24k landed. OK, I know one can spend that on doing up a car here but you still are buying a car in essentially 'unknown' condition that may still need $'s spent on it.

There is another one i have seen at Kamikazie but we can't get any info on it or even if it's still there .... "skyline" (Jason) can you find out where this one is ?
http://isuzucars.kamikaze-drive.com/BELLETT005.htm picture below
Although they advertise exporting of all their cars, they just don't answer phone or emails.

and yes, most of the cars seem to come up through Isuzu Sports and overpriced. They just put them up over and over again.

Although it would be nice to be in japan, doesn't really help much if you can't sepak language nor have any idea on where to go.
