I dont see a lot of replies yet Davo! You know your request for GT caps is about as rare a part as there is, and a whole set?
Sorry, I dont even have one to go on mine. I suppose thats why there are so many running mags.

As for the grille, don't do it! The PR90 grille is trademark. Even if its krusty, I'd still use it. And I reckon its worth having it rechromed, if possible.

Cheers, Matt.

Hey Davo,
Your PR90 grille is made out of folded stainless steel strips then hand assembled together which makes it quite unique as Matt said.
I have disassembled mine twice in 22 years and machine buffed all the pieces and it cones up like chrome. It doesn't need to be chrome plated. If you drop your grille up to me at my shop I can get to task on it for you.

Cheers, Lewis

Righto Davo, so if you are keeping the 90 grille, what do you want the late grille for? I know where I might get one, but dont know how much.
Cheers, Matt.

I could help you with a spare mate, but it's got a bit of gutter rash, will need resto. Any good?

I wish I knew someone who restores hubcaps...there's a guy in NSW who is a wizard with R100 hubcaps, but it's $2000+ for a set, and won't work on any brand except Mazda.

I thought they are stainless steel.... so that 'rust' should polish off. The clips may not be stainless, but spring steel. Too long ago since i did them up on now Dave's GT.

then mask them up to repaint the paint areas. You would need to match the paint of course.

Davo

Have you tried polishing with a drill and flap disc?

Cheers Fying

I don't think i would use a flap disk,.... i assume that's a sandpaper disk?

It would be too harsh on the s/s i think. I think i would prefer using something like mag wheel polish, more elbow grease but should just remove the discolouring and shine it up

Post subject:  Re: SWAP

Dave, I am with Glenn, use chrome polish not too harsh, you can buy these polishes in Supercheap or Repco and they do a great job, slow when they need it like yours do, BUT for the rarity of these wheels you need to be as gentle as possible!

I still have those caps Glenn wrapped up in towels, when I get into my garage and I clean up and paint a decent set of standard rims, they will appear on the car at "special" Events.
Wow, aren't they rare now!!!
