Howdy All,

Im chasing after a standard Nikki Carby preferably 1 still working but will settle with anything i can get to get back on the road again.

My carby broke the top off bending the accelerator plunger and loosing a few bits in the process.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

If no Nikki maybe a sports manifold and carry for a Florian Head.

Cheers Feral Kev.

Hey Kev,

I whacked a small Weber on my 1500cc in my Bellett - works a treat. Do you want to keep it original?

Hey there Kev.
I reckon the Nikki gives the best economy. I have a bunch of them, but do you have a 3 or 5 bearing motor? The 5 bearing is cammed differently and the carb has smaller jets for better economy. 5 bearing carb will have flat spots on a 3 bearing motor.
Send me your address and I will mail you one. It will be untested and will probably need a clean, but will be free.
Cheers, Matt.

maybe a 32/36 downdraft Weber? Adapt the air cleaner to fit and most would not notice. These were a common conversion on Gemini motors and I 'think' are std on some Ford model of the era.

A weber is too much for a 5 bearing 1500 in standard trim. And if taken straight off a 2 litre Ford (where they were most common), they drown it in fuel.
Is another one of the conversions I do.... Carb works are my second job.

The best carb mod I remember from back in the day was on Sid Barrington's teardrop. It was a single side draught 40mm webber on a crossover manifold. It had a mild cam grind, but idled fairly well. It achieved a genuine 41mpg on a run we did with 3 passengers.
I know, for me economy seems more exciting than grunt. I suppose I just like that its taken until 2013 for a car of ours to out economy a Bellett. And it has 7 seats, weighs 1900+kg and 3 diffs. Santa fe diesel in a Bellett? Now that would be a swap I would like.
Yes, I'm strange.
Cheers, Matt.

I would love to run a side draught webber on this motor.

Its ( Club starter ) Mums bottom end off her beloved WOODY 67 sedan, but it now has a florian head on it and i can't find a manifold to fit it.

As the car is in barn find original condition I'm going to try and keep it looking semi stock.
If i had a GT head to put on it i would put on my twin 45 side draughts. The motor would love it.

This motor is an extremely strong motor for not being rebuilt for about 30 years and had been sitting for about 20 years.

Thanks again farmer for coming to the rescue with the Nikki,

Cheers Feral Kev

tis true.... back in the days when i had a Gemini though, you could buy them new and jetted for a 1600. I put one on my Bellett with Gemini motor and 5 speed around '78-79.

Howdy,

I would love to post pix but apart from not knowing how i don't have any pix at the house.

I have a lot of stuff stored 300km away in 2 different directions. Where to go to find them who knows.

I will try to find pix 1 day and also work out how to upload them on here too..

Sorry to put a downer on the pix side of things.

Cheers Feral Kev.

Club Starters Bellett.

Im still looking for the engine bay pix.

1500 block Gemini 1600 60thou oversize hightop pistons / block decked too much for the hightop pistons.
steel head shaved more than a bald mans head. too much for the pistons too.

had to run 2 head gaskets to stop blowing them out revving anything over 2500rpm

45mm side draught webber extractors.

daily driver for more years than i can remember.

the car known as WOODY was also known as my eldest brother..

zip ties are awesome.

i even zip tied the massive bullbar onto my ute half way to deny ute muster hit a roo or 2 n broke off all the bolts on 1 side so cable ties to the rescue.
i then didn't worry about fixing it for about 3 months. (if it aint broke don't play with it).

as for the calendar yes please. i will buy 1.

hope everyone has a great weekend.

Cheers Feral Kev.
