George had just fitted the rotor and was tuning it for a meet

The above black GT of George Steedons was never rolled over to my knowledge, it came to an end at Amaroo Park after skidding on oil dropped by Holden GTR when it put a rod through the block, and hit the armco at was then called Toledo Corner, the corner as you entered the main straight.
Thankfully only George's pride was hurt, the front of the car was so badly damaged it was basically scrap however some parts recoverable and used by Tom Amos later on.
It was a VERY fast car.

Bump! The search is back on for 2011.

Due to the overwhelming silliness of local prices I have persued several cars OS (a couple Abarth Scorpione's, Saab Sonett, can't squeeze the family into 'em), but would still prefer a reasonable car in my backyard. If anyone has a lead, I'd really appreciate any news on upcoming GT's, speccy sedans, or any of the other 475 cars I've listed in my original post. I'm happy to pay good money for the right car, but realistic market value please.

Thanks to all who've shot leads my way over the last 12 months or so!

Happy New Year everyone.

Cheers,
Duane

Hey Degruch, Have you seen the 69 MK11 Corona on e bay at present, it looks a beauty and had a rebuild and I think a reasonable price and might be worth a look?

Wow, that is a nice looking RT72...not sure I'm doing handstands over the wire wheels, but each to their own. I guess it says (like most Bellett GT's) the original hubcaps have gone. Yes, the price is good, not sure I'll travel interstate for a Mark II though. There was a GSS (twin cam) for sale here in SA about 2 years ago that I didn't find out about until too late...that would have been something. Thanks for the heads up!

Reminds me, I should add Borward Isabella Coupe to the list, hehe. There was a reasonable looking one on eBay at a good price only a few weeks back, but painted ORANGE!!! D'oh. Talk about making life hard for yourself.

Cheers,
Duane

Bumpity...the search is still on. Not offered any GT's so far this year...they've dried up!

Had a 240K Hardtop all but parked in my driveway when the seller backed out.

Just last week had all but signed the papers on a Studebaker Wagonaire when I screwed up my eBay bid and missed the end of the auction! D'uh.

So, I'm back in the hunt...GT's and nice Bellett sedans need only apply, also pruned back my bucket list. Who'd have thought it'd take this long to find a decent car! Everything on the market is a project...I'll have the Bond finished before something decent pops up at this rate!

Cheerio,
Duane

Post subject:  Re: WANTED: Bellett GT

Thanks mate, but I'm after a runner at least, if not a restored or good original car. I'd have half the cars on my bucket list already if I wanted a project. Problem is, I'd like something to have some fun with while the Bond is out of commission...the aim being to go in this year's B2B Classic...which I've now missed anyway! During this time, I've been making progress on the Bond anyway...I reckon it'll be done in 18 months.

Cheers Mr Fib, maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree and should go with the Flo'???

Oddly, some of the biggest issues I've had are people simply not responding when I contact them! It's almost like some sellers just want the world to know they have a cool car and don't actually want to sell it. Weird.

I'll say...just out of interest, check this baby out:

http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehi ... Z304550241

OK, I can't squeeze the family in it, but I didn't care when I jumped on the phone last night! Unfortunately, sign of the times, the gentleman kindly told me that although the price was steep (it's a non-runner, dead motor, rust, but one owner low kms), if I couldn't afford it, I really shouldn't go there. I'd have to wait another 7 years (when I last saw one for sale) for the next one, or import an LHD one from Europe.

Don't you hate it when people are right? Rationally, if I could afford it, I should probably pass it up and buy the Freegard GT instead! **strokes chin and checks bank account again**

Meanwhile, the Bond is getting closer and closer, there may not be any point in buying a runner in about 6 months, he thinks, optimistically...

keep focused on the Bond there Grouch!

GT shopping ...is like...

you will get either, A) a real restoration job that will take 12 months or more
B) spend 3-5K and still need lost of work
C) spend 12-15K and not have to do anything

focus focus focus

Hello all...still looking...yes, life does exist outside of 'The Rumour Mill'.

Nearly did a deal on that eBay Corona hardtop, but couldn't find anyone in Sydney to confirm the rust situation, so assuming (having not heard for a while) it's gone. Eyeballing the Silva on eBay currently, even though it's a total resto!

As always, any leads much appreciated.

Cheerio,
Duane
