9:00 am is the start of the release of first vehicle from West Beach Oval, Rob. So the get away time for us could be quite rubbery. Will be great to catch up with all.....Blluuurrgh !! I'm heading off from home in convoy with the neigbour who has an early 60's valiant and his mate with a Brock Spec fast back Torana.

Sorry we won't see you there "Flibbs", but All Jap Day is just around the corner and there will be other opportunities once you settle into the new pad.

Have the Mexicans arrived yet. For those who aren't getting to Coona (like myself), I can feel a mini Nats coming on here !!!

B.

Hiya Rob,

The cars start leaving at about 9.00am and usually take about 1.5 hours to filter out.

Being there that early should ensure we're in the first 1/4 of the cars or so... arrivals from about 10:30 onwards (I'd get there a shade earlier just in case!).

Cheers,

Dave

Yeah Flying. Great to meet you too. You turned up at a crutial moment when I really needed calming. Not bagging the countless people who volunteer to make one of the greatest auto classics on earth function properly, we had yet again been seperated from the group and driven through a 4wd paddock. Both the Bluie and Chris' Tiellie negotiated some thick grass and "Gibbers" (known as "Yonnies" in Mexico).

Some pics of the mustering area before the long and crazy clutch burner trip to Birdwood. Just pannig out to the sheer enourmity of about 1800 classics gathered in one spot.

All in all a totally random, but great, and exhausting day, getting lost and not catching up ENOUGH with the clan. Great finish, Liz and I took the long way home for a "fangurama" down the freeway through the tunnels.....sweet

More pics and stories to come, boys and girls.....

B.

Just aside, older son Brad found some U tube footage that may be of interest. It's a 30 min. clip. But at 25:39 mins the phantom white GT passes. Who's IS that ????? Then at 26:24 mins yours truly goes past. Full screen and volume up please !!! One low flying Jap plane, nice sound if I may say so myself.

Enjoy, B.

A mate of mine told me he saw a white GT going down Tapley's Hill Road Sunday, without a B2B sticker on the windscreen (i.e. not part of the event)...Freegard's finally extracted their mysterious GT from the shed?

Can't find any YouTube footage of the event that long...is it broken into parts?

Old timer speak for "rocks", mate. Sorry, forgot to mention dial in "Bay to Birdwood 2011" and it will bring up a whole heap of long snippetts. Hats off to "vinnie 181". I think he's got just about every vehicle going past, so there must be footage of others too. Just found Oz's tielle Sedan in the 27th min. of the same clip. It's the first clip that you get up on screen. And yes, there are many parts, so there's about a weeks worth of viewing.....AWSOME !

Oh, and thanks to the guests for coming across for this one. Now I understand why you are "brimming" happiness, PR91.

More pics soon,

B.

Phew, I was worried I might have stepped in some gibbers wandering around that top paddock.

The phantom white GT is not the same phantom white GT my mate spotted...seems they're everywhere! If Brad had kept rolling on that purple Torana for 13 seconds instead of 11 seconds, he'd have probably caught the degruch family unit flying up from behind in the Uncle Fiesta...maybe not in keeping with the event, but probably rarer than a bloody EH Holden all the same.

the mystery GT is owned by Henry. not a forum member despite our many attempts to get him involved in the Bellett world in some way over the years. he bought it off Rob of 'violet crumble' fame. the car is in fact an ex-Victorian unit even tho some claim it's an original SA car... how do i know this u ask? coz this is the exact car i tried to buy 6 years ago before i got the one i have today and it's been well known to us Mexicans for years and years. hope this helps.

Thats the one with the later model flat tail lights, and the fancy wire wheels you'de expect on an MG. Geez, the Mexicans always know what's across the border. And I think your right "Gruchie". The other GT in the clip just before "you know who's" must be Freeguard's.

Anyway, here's my darlin' 60's belle pointig out her daily drives to me. The last pic says " Oh, so we've arrived !!" Then I say, "is it on fire yet ??"
