Alright guys...it's up for sale. :(

Price is $7,500 for complete car with rebuilt almost-everything-under-the-bonnet ($9,600 in receipts), plus spares including an additional 2 GT hubcaps, diff, new windscreen rubbers, original factory option headrests and books. Could possibly be fixed, but I haven't got the time or energy to try, or the space to store at the moment...best find another GT shell, make a GT sedan, GT Wasp, or hang onto it for a rainy day.

As you all know, I put a lot into it, I hope someone can give it another life.

Cheers,
Duane

This car is very saveable; it needs some time on a chassis straightening jig, a donor sedan with good tail lights and not much else; it's not even a resto, because the front and interior are all fine (seat might need some work, given it snapped!).

But a resto normally requires EVERYTHING to be pulled apart; hell, I know a guy who is rebuilding his DIALS in his E-type, such is the detail of his resto. This won't need any of that.

Cheers,

Dave

Cheers Dave,

Actually, looking at it there doesn't appear to be any damage to the chassis forward of the axle as the rear corner took the brunt of the accident. What it requires to repair, I don't know...a lot of time and patience most likely. There is no damage ahead of the B pillars, small dent in C pillar is the only damage to the cars cabin, glass is fine. The seat frame hasn't snapped, it is bent.

The only rust in the car was either repaired 3 months ago (towers and full engine bay respray, cost $900) or obliterated by the accident...does that make it technically rust free?

True, everything works and was in pretty good nick prior to the accident...BADLY needed a tune but runs as smooth as when warm. Remember, this car was port matched and balanced as well, it went like a rocket and was not quite run in. A fuel pump isolator is also required, as the old one has a split causing a small oil leak.

In fact, there is some dial work required...currently has a sedan speedo, a GT speedo comes with the car (more money spent).

Happy to forward pics, if you need any specific snaps let me know.

Thanks Paul, yes, it sucks a lot...I've owned a lot of cars, most of them in rough condition, but this one was a minor rust repair, a paint job (not that the one on it wasn't good) and a set of rear bushes away from being the first immaculate car I ever owned. :(

I also can't stand seeing it sit in the driveway doing nothing though...I'm fully committed to my Bond resto (which will fill the shed for another couple years), and a fitting classic driver will hopefully be on its way soon. There's been more paid for lesser cars over the last few years, if someone is handy with body work and has the time, or has a replacement shell, it's a good buy.

I regret that Rod sold his car before this happened!

For the record, here's the list of work carried out recently:

> Engine reconditioned - hot tanked & painted, all seals, gaskets & bearings replaced, re-sleeved to original bore, original hi-top pistons retained, block & head welded, port matched & balanced.
> Carbies cleaned, new kits fitted, new air filters (spare set also included), manifold welded
> Cam coated and reground, new bearings
> Valves ground, new seats and guides, cover polished
> New engine mounts
> New belts
> New timing chain tensioner
> Rebuilt alternator
> Rebuilt water pump, thermostat and housing, new heater hoses
> Rebuilt oil pump and fuel pump - needs insulator for fuel pump, small oil leak
> Rebuilt starter motor
> New radiator
> Rust removed from towers and welded
> Engine bay stripped and repainted

Juicy additions include:

> GT hubcaps (2 spare)
> GT speedo (currently has sedan speedo)
> GT owners manual
> GT parts manual (rare)
> Genuine optional headrests
> A couple boxes full of spares
