Hey guys,

There's currently a pair of brand-new reproduction teardrop tail lights on eBay for $99.00 for the pair.

This is a very reasonable price, I feel! These are 100% Aussie made and appear to be indistinguishable from the originals!

I contacted the seller, who pointed me to his site:

http://www.damax.com.au/

He said he is going to do a run of 'hex' lights early in the new year!

He is also making HR tail light buckets and said he can reproduce those for other cars as well.

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Wasp tail light buckets and lenses made. Of course, this would depend a bit on pricing (or more so, the timing would depending on the price!) but when stuff is made of unobtanium, you gotta get what you can get!

Cheers!

Dave

Dave,

I have communicated with him also, looks like we could be onto a good thing, I will be getting a set of the Teardrops ASAP, he says he still has another three sets to put on ebay.

As you said, he is also proposing 67 style stop and blinker as well as the side lights and interior light, if we support this guy I think it will go a long way in assisting our restorations.

As many of you know, I also have an XC Falcon, they are nearly as hard if not harder to get rear lights for the sedans, he advised me that he makes them also.

One comment was that he normally wholesales, so some negotiating may be in order.

Has anyone done research on Gaskets, Cylinder head, inlet/exhaust etc, I have been doing a bit of a chase around and could be onto something if no-one else has already done so.

There is a supposed 1500 Engine gasket set on ebay for $490.00, (was $695.00 I believe before).

Also stated that there are two Belletts in a Riverstone, NSW wrecking yard.

Bit far for me, but if they are a new source, could be beneficial.

If you can source and early Chev Luv gasket kit locally or in the States, most of the gaskets are correct except the inlet/exhaust gasket, I think.

I may stand corrected.

If your getting Wasp lights made Dave then I will definitely get a set too, might help bring the individual price down if there are multiples ordered.

To everyone else, don't wait too long to buy those tear drop lenses people or I will pounce on them myself at the end of the week once I get paid
I don't 'need' them, but...... I will buy them to put in my just incase stash if they are still there come pay day

The website states runs start at 50 of, so as I say, we may have to negotiate as a group.

I received my pair of reproduction Teardrop Tail Lights today.

First impressions were that they are fantastic, the quality of the moulding is exquisite and the colouring even and a very rich red, as I don't have a car ready to install them on as yet, I am unable to say how they actually fit or perform and what effect the UV Rays will have, but to my eye, they are extremely well made and I look forward to more items from this company.

I am currently in communication with them regarding further lenses to suit Belletts and would suggest that if you have a particular lens in mind, you must realise that a good quality original is required to fabricate the reproduction from.

I have been advised that more Teardrop ones will go on ebay towards the end of January and that the 67 stop/tail/blinkers are being developed.
