Simmy, the answer to that is "How much did he pay for his car and how much is it worth now". I can never understand why people are prepared to pay $40K for a new car (which is guaranteed to be worth half as much in 3-4 years time, and SFA in ten years) and yet baulk at spending a few grand on a classic. Very few people make money on classics (let me know if you meet one

) but that's not the point. Most people don't make money by going on holidays either. And if you were to do up a GT, in the event that you came to sell it you would at least get some of your money back.
