This brochure features the very early 1963-1964-build Bellett sedans.

I've had to clean the front page up a bit as "Maison Motors" in Perth, Western Australia had put their stamp on the bonnet and 'John Luff', presumably the salesman, had written his name and '£950' in the same area; annoyingly forgetting the rear page was half blank.

Given the low build numbers for 1963, it's easy to assume the first Australia-bound Belletts were the 1964 version as seen here. Check out the grille badge; it has the Isuzu script written in Hirogana backed by blue on a black background. Later cars of this first, teardrop-tail light series (1963-1966) had the Isuzu script backed by blue on a smaller blue or black background that was in turn backed by a cream background. Check out the other brochures to get what I mean!

The way this brochure opens up, the picture below is from the first panel and the second-half of the middle panel, hence the vertical line through the back door of the Bellett. Another giveaway that this is an early-build car is the c-pillar badge; the familiar, squared-off 1500 badge with black inserts had not yet appeared, instead this car features a 1500 badge with a spear through it!

Check out that mint interior with the plastic on the doors! This 1964 car also reveals a different style of door map pocket and a gear lever with a bend in it, rather than the straight items of the later cars. Looking to the back seat and it's heartwarming to know that the 'interiors show an unusual concern for your good taste' and the 'seats show the same concern for comforts of you and yours'!

This section shows the second-half of the middle panel, along with the third panel in this spread, showing off some of the features of the new Bellett's interior including but not limited to:

"A round-shaped speedometer with mileage intergrating gauge plus pilot lamps for parking brake and oil pressure, all arranged in one, offers specific understandings (!). The combination meter is of similar shape and combines fuel gauge, water temperature gauge. With the adoption of trip meter, it could be properly utilized for various purposes"

Check out what they say about the brakes: "..it provides brake stopping gently at low speeds and quickly but tenderly at high speeds without slipping"!

"High speed diesel engine" - check out the Diesel brochure on this site for the top speed.. it's not high speed trust me!

This section, panel 5 is regularly the first page that would be seen when opening the brochure. More Engrish! "Sharp curve coverage", plus on stop and go operations, "it will deliver the power you sometimes wish you had". I want that power all the time!

Interesting the mention of orange fender indicators (flashers, blinkers etc) - I've seen cars with both orange and white and assumed the older the model then the higher the likelihood that they'd be white... but this is not the case! Same goes for the circular rear indicators - I will eventually scan a picture of a truck carrying several Belletts, with some of them having white and some having orange rear indicators. There's just no working this out!

Here are the specifications; interesting that it mentions the top speed being 138km/h as the Bellett was often touted as a genuine 100mph car (160km/h). Perhaps this was revised when the 5-bearing motor was released. No mention of the Diesel's top speed! Not high!
