Pombellett, you have already won. To see someone choose a Bellett for a restoration, in any country is a winner in themselves.
Do not send it back to Aus, continue your progress, and enjoy the fruits of you hard work. Seeing this resto is great inspiration, for all of the Bellett family. Looking forward to the finished project, and I am sure you will be happy driving her.

Pombellett, Attached is the only other Bellett 4 door I have seen, orange, this was taken in 1981, at Oran Park in Sydney Aus. Though I am sure Rolie will look much better.

Many thanks guys, it's certainly been quite a ride just getting this far, and it's interesting, as more and more wise old racers drop in at the shop and look at their first ever Bellett, there's more and more talk of Rolie having the potential of being "quite quick". I'm not going to build him up too much, but I'm really looking forward to the first shakedown....and then we'll see.
Meantime the suspension is going in.

that does look good, shiny bits on a bellett! are you using new rubbers or the old rubbers in the suspension?

Combination of old and new, some Rolie's bushes looked brand new and didn't need replacing.

Ahhh.... Those suspension parts and install photos takes me back to when I was re-assembling
my 1966 GT years ago after shell sandblasting, hole repairs, painting and replated parts.
Fortunately, I did have a lot of New rubbers parts to use.
It is a credit to you to take this on and run with it. At the end of it you'll have a rare race car in the UK.
I know you have a good source of information at your fingertips!

Rolie is getting better healthcare than an Asylum seeker!. When is he heading to the UK citizenship ceremony. After all he has emigrated.

Greetings to all my Belletting mates down under. Update on Rolie is that we've put the unstripped engine in so that we can check that the whole drive train all fits together (which it does,hooray)
and so we can fabricate the exhaust system.
The other picture is us making the fake back seat, we have to run with a rear seat of some kind, and the weight of the original seat and the obvious problem of the roll cage stops us from using it. The foam will be upholstered with the same material that we used for the door cards.

Cheers YP. Hope you're making good progress with yours. Back here in Pomland we got the tank in now..........a little bigger than I imagine, as I'm no fan of enduros, at least a full tank should keep the back end planted
Trying to get the exhaust manifold in , quite tricky as it's all a bit snug on that side of the engine.
And finally, for a bit of 'bling therapy' we attached Rolie's lights and new grill (the grill came still rapped in a 1965 Japanese newspaper!!)
The 10th of March and our visit to Goodwood and the dreaded eligability police seems very close now, but we're still quietly confident.

It looks like an 1800 adapted overhead cam engine from Jap GT and early Chev Luv in the engine bay there, Pom?

Is there twin Dellorto's going on there too..

Sure hope it gets passed ok and you get to give a few other Jap cars a run for their money.

Yes, special recipe coil overs, I'm happy to post the rates and shock spec when we've worked it out ourselves after a few shakedowns.
As for the engine Oz....straight out of a late sixties Bellett Gt, apparently not many of these engines made it to Australia. It's 1600cc.
