Oh dear, I seem to have omitted one piece of information. Now you must be thinking I'm some greedy guts. I did say "Playmate", not "Roommate"! The 117 is in Rye Park, but at Gary Carter's!

And the "Very Nice Day" comment? Well, there's a story. -
In 1978 I heard of 3 handbuilt sports coupes that came to Australia. I heard that 1 was destroyed by fire, 1 in private hands and 1 unknown whereabouts. This was before the interwebby of course, so I never even saw a picture, and I thought I'd never see one.
Fast forward to the first 'new' Nationals (2006) and Gary Carter & I are in our element among the Belletts & their friendly owners. On a drive through Corowa we see what we think to be a Florian coupe at a roundabout.
When we get back to the meet, there it is! The 'mythical' beast - a '68 117 coupe. And so I got to sit in it.

That was a very nice day.
So now I've had my first
drive in one. O.K., quite a different beast of coarse, being 11 years newer, but still a tight riding, low slung sport coupe. And it was a short drive, but it sits flat & feels like it's begging for some twisty stuff.
And to answer your question Mr Flibbles, EVERYTHING works! There are a few rust blisters in the body that need fixing before they get any worse, but other than that, it's ready for club rego - even came with a new battery! It was an absolute bargain.
And Gary's grin? Well it's pretty broad!
Cheers, Matt.
