An interesting experience I had with my Donkey and Shannons a few years ago was that when I rang to get coverage the guy I got was in SA and when I told him it was a 65 Bellett that I wanted to insure he said that he 'loves the tear drop Belletts'.
I was gob smacked  he was only a young bloke (younger than me even) and knew exactly what it was even though he had never owned one.
He then said that a mate of his owned a few Belletts inc a GT.
As I never knew anyone else with a Bellett at the time I never bothered to ask who it was...... who has a mate working for Shannons in SA?

This guy insured Donkey for $4000 without batting an eye lid (yes I told him the exact condition he was in) as he said that the rarety of the car made it's replacement cost at least that at a minimum + the premium would be the same if it was only insured for $2000.

I love Shannons.

I backed into a close friends Audi A4 on the 7th of this month and DESTROYED the front guard (I was in my Triton) I rang Shannons straight away and the car was inspected 3 days later and was fixed within 7 days.
Awesome service!

I know I said I was happy with the cars . I must have lied. Because the florian has the fuel tank out for repair . The gear box out . Not completely happy with the clutch. To day I rebuilt the pressure plate. Put in new fingers . not happy with the front end of the gt . Riding to hard . So it's all pulled out . Not sure if it's the shocks or the wrong coils . Remembering this car was completely striped 25 years ago . With all the bits I have may be I have put the wrong bits back . Not sure . Think I will put new shocks in. The ones I used seemed ok .not new. Also think I will put rear sedan coils in as well . With the florian I used a new plate and a used pressure plate . Hope it solves the adjustment problems. Gricey

I guess thats why you do shakedown runs mate. Hopefully it all goes together OK.
Are you getting a bit fussy? I suppose that is a good thing.

Stickman, I'm glad you've had a good insurance experience. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, and some companies realise this. We've had exceptionally good experiences with AAMI too. Some say bad stuff about them, but I reckon they're jealous opposition.

Cheers, Matt.

you guys know that Dave works for Shannon's.

they are great for insurance of our classics and will even insure a no runner in the shed in case it has a fire or is stolen out of the shed!

and its not expensive at all. about $140 a year for my replacement 10K on my GT.

that really good for sedans of any condition, even do comprehensive on my sedan with 4K agreed value and i get to keep salvage of the wreck!!!

great crowd to deal with.

Hey Gricey
I've never seen a Florian, will look forward to seeing it.
You've been busy !!!

and Oz toffa is right - Shannons are great. Easy to work with, process stuff quickly without hassles and interested in your car. I've got five cars insured with them. The Yellow Peril is on SI (in Tas) plates and is fully insured for $6000, costing only $124 per yr.

I've been on leave since September 2011 but given the lotto win hasn't come thru I'll be back on the phones from 31 October 2012.

Will be happy to help whoever needs it, although a text msg or email would be better than calling me.

Cheers

Dave
