Mirrors should scrub up ok :D. Yep it's an auto :( . Has really nice black interior (except for the carpet that went in the bin last night yuk)all chrome trims, some badges, remote booster. Spare sets of tail lights in really good condition, even found a few boxes of new pbr brake parts and a couple of old carbs in the boot. Might try to fire the motor up tonight wish me luck

Busy weekend the deluxe got a tank flush, fresh fuel, fuel filter, oil, plugs, and a degrease, after a little mishap with the the distributor cap that is different to Betty's??? She is alive and well :D runs very well, no smoke, no rattles I'd got as far as saying it actually runs and sounds better than Betty

Nice! The motors almost always run, in my experience.
Different dizzy cap? Both cars are '68 models, indicated by horns both being on the drivers side. (Earlier models have one each side) Does one have an alloy head? If so, check the block casting on drivers side. G150 or G161?
G161 is Florian or Chev Luv 1600. (Tappet cover is Florian/Bellett type)
Florian/Luv have a dizzy and cap with the lug on the opposite side.
Why? Who knows?!

Cheers, Matt.

Hi
With the dizzy, it can be 180' out of when assembled or rebuild when the drive off the cam is reversed
No biggie as the firing order is unchanged obviously
If you turn the dizzy upside down you will see the offset slot
So if the drive is put in 180 out, the dizzy has to be turned to match up the slot
I have 2 cars set up 180 out, no problema
By your picture though your plug location is correct for factory setting
If I miss took the issue the perhaps u have an early cast iron dizzy and a later aluminium one which can also perhaps explain as points, rotors and caps are different?
Cheers
J

I just went through the dizzy issue myself with Donkey's engine swap.
The replacement engine had the correct early smaller dizzy cap and points but it was buggered so I put donkey's one on but it is the later model dizzy with bigger cap and points. The points in this one were cactus (broken spring) and my spares were all for the early type.... :?
Fortunately I had a spare later model dizzy at my bros place and I scavenged the points out of that one.
Mine also runs 180 deg out

Finally getting some shed time (Dont mind the mess I've been busy) the decision has been made on my first victim which is the Mexican bellett with red boot   if all goes to plan she will be a pig on a spit by mid year. Meanwhile I need to build a mezzanine in the shed I'm out of room as there's been a new addition to the bellett family
