until now. i thought as we have at least 1 Flo in our corner of the inter-web, and some Bellett enthusiasts are keenly on the look out for more, i'd see what i could find.
this is only a small starter, and i'll try and find more as i go.
the Florian was built between 1967 and 1983. It was built in both 4 door sedan and 4 door station wagon body styles, although the wagon was dropped in the early 1970's, with only the sedan continuing on. it replaced the Bellel as Isuzu's mid-range sized car, and was itself replaced by the Isuzu Aska (we aussies know this as the Holden Camira).
the Florian kept the same design of body, layout, etc, throughout it's 16 year run (very unusual indeed!), and only had 2 significant updates to change some of it's appearance, using the normal "grille, headlights, tailights" type of changes.
as for running gear changes..... i'm yet to confirm details, so i'll keep u informed.
a further point, the 117 Coupe used the entire Florian floor pan, suspension layout, brakes, running gear, etc, throughout it's model run as well. think of the 117 as the hotted up 2 door coupe version of the Florian sedan.
the 117 was built between 1968 and 1981. it was designed by famed Italian designer Giugiaro in 1966, making it one of Japan's first Italian designed cars. it had no predecessor, and was replaced by the Isuzu Piazza.
the 117 only had 1 major update during it's life, when in 1977, the 4 round headlights front was replaced by 4 square headlights, along with a number of other changes in other areas across the car.
Florian models:
PA20 - 1600.
PA30 - 1800.
PAD20 - 1800 diesel.
117 models:
PA90.
PA95.
PA96.
the 117 used engine capacities from 1600 to 2000, in both SOHC and DOHC configurations. i'll work out what model prefix was which engine as i progress with more info.
*EDIT:
PA90 - 1600.
PA95 - 1800.
PA96 - 2000.
the 117 used a variety of different engines thru this time, including the W series DOHC, the S series SOHC and the Z series Gemini style SOHC.... now I've got to work out what model code each style had that related to each engine! it just never ends....
total Florian build (1967-1983) 145,836. this number is the total number conbined for sedans and wagons.
total 117 build (1968-1981) 86,192. this number is the total for both the pre 'GM takeover' 1973 semi hand-built cars, and the post 1973 mass produced cars.
i know that there were different spec levels in the Florian range, like 'deluxe', 'DS', 'TS', etc., and i'll endeavour to find out as much info as possible on these, as well as finding some further model and spec info on the 117 for further Florian/117 comparison data.... when time permits!!
cheers.
