Re: APICADAY
Sticky, that is indeed a 'mega steering wheel'.
Here's an extraordinary photo of my spiritual home Goodwood in the bad old days between it's regular use as a full GP circuit in the sixties and the nineties when it was done up for the Revival. Fascinating because it shows how dilapidated the circuit had become....but more so that top teams still used it for testing, including McLaren.
In this shot you can see McLaren himself to the right of the car, hand in pocket. And check out the shonky old trailer (in the foreground) that one of the top CanAm teams of the day transported their race car about on!!! Can you imagine a current LMP1 team turning up like this?
I also love the way they are all standing around scratching their chins, staring at the engine....a pose any racer or classic car owner is fully familiar with, and has been part of many times.
For interest's sake here's a shot of the pit lane taken from almost the same place, showing how much it's changed. A lot, I think you'll agree.

Re: APICADAY
Thrashing about in the wet in E-types! I wonder if that would still happen. Some value there nowdays.
So, its a new month, and I have data.
Rhys bought that Cressida.
Rislone didn't fix it, so its in the shed. Head off and getting a grind tomorrow.
Hopefully it will be all good because its such a nice car. Soft comfy seats, cliamate control air, new tyres, full service history, one owner for 25 years.
Cheers, Matt.

This side looks pretty good, hows the other side? Nice dry situation, should be ok for rust.
Take it home mate!

Re: APICADAY
My son-in-law sent it to me. New I wasn't on facebook. At first I thought it was my first car when I looked at the "C" pillar.
No. It was painted and roof not vinyl. And. I know that it wasn't it as I would reckon it has about 6 foot of dirt on top of it and is now a soccer/cricket field.
Yeh........No. To go and get it a 'Tiki Tour' would have to be decided upon. Via Rye Park, Albury, Melb., Adelaide etc.
. There's no straight line drive to Alice Springs from where I live.
And your right. Probably very little rust in it and would take a long time to rot away. I can see 2 probable good door handles That's about it. Leave it where it lies.

Re: APICADAY
Reckon early '66/'67. Bone interior. Can see the weather strips just below the windscreen for the back of the bonnet. Holes for seatbelt bolt drilled into the "B" pillar. My place to wreck. Approx. 5200k round trip. Would definitely want to make sure it was there before I left.67GT wrote:Late model ??

Re: APICADAY
Yeah, thats pretty tragic! I like to visit the coast, but I'd prefer not to live there. Torrential rains, floods, salt, humidity......how do people live there?!
I know, theres good stuff too. Like lack of drought.
