Dave may correct me, but Crash isn't actually a write-off...only damaged beyond the assessors estimate of the cars value, so the insurance company paid out on the policy.
Mmmmmm, good point. Dave?

Shannons don't write anything off. Regardless, if it was a Statutory Write-Off (i.e. unable to be registered) it would have a label stuck to the car and plates removed. I've still got the plates that were on Crash.

So, the new owner would only need to submit the car for roadworthy in whatever state or territory it ends up in...although I'd recommend fixing it first. ;)

Gee, that's a relief. Thanks for the heads up. Thx D.

Just an update on selling "Goldie".

Had a few phone calls (about 27). Lots of questions which have all been answered correctly, I hope. No mega offers, so I think some watchers lurking for a super cheap GT. I guess we will see by Sunday if it moves on or I get to sell a kidney.

Wish to thank those people with words of support and advice. Thumbs up.

Ps. I heard about a bellett station wagon for real. The things you hear.

People trying to lowball a nice car and get it on the ridiculous cheap......
Perish the thought mate!
Stick to your guns. The right buyer will come along and recognise it as a good GT and pay the appropriate amount.

$13k+ is lowballing??? Seems like it's headed towards the right price to me.

Better be careful, I'll get blocked on Facebook for thinking I'm an 'expert' or something. ;)

 What a difference a day makes! And quite a few to go!
Good luck Dean, I hope you get the right price.
Cheers, Matt.

Read Dean's post...... "lurking for a super cheap GT", so yep, lowballers.
Now it's getting to where it should be on price but still has a ways to go (as the reserve confirms), so the cheap skates will miss out. Again.
Boo hoo.

Isn't blocking is reserved for smart asses tho?

That's how online auctions work. Going off too early about the scourge of tight wads. Again.

 See you next SA Nationals. ;)

27 phone calls about it, yet reserve hasn't been met, so yes, tightwads, because if someone is serious, they'll pay what's being asked at reserve or higher instead of waiting to try and get it on the cheap.

More than happy to see u anytime.
There's plenty of events that are across our wide brown land before any more SA Nats are even planned, and I'll continue to attend every one of them.

a bit like bidding on a house i guess, guessing what the reserve might be and hoping its low enough that you have a chance with your budget.

Sounds like a more rational train of thought there Glenn, seems like that's what's happening with this auction, as with most. I usually work out what would be the highest price I'm comfortable to pay, then save my bid to the last seconds to circumvent bidders that sit there and try chip away at final total.

I'm not alone in that technique of course, it's obviously how serious contenders think...work out your budget, then whack the pretenders out of the way with a big hammer at the end. If I lose, I wouldn't have been prepared to pay the final price anyway.

Confirmed today, as per above, the car was 'cash settled' not a statutory write off. Fix it, roadworthy and go!

Goldie has hit reserve on fleabay so see what happens I guess.

Got 98 watchers. I didn't think that many knew what a bellett was here in OZ (either we have died off or lost our marbles).

:D

Great to see.
Hope it goes really crazy now and you get a great price.
Still wish I could bid, but hey can't have em all.

Well, I wasn't one of the watchers. So now I don't know the final price. Is it public info Dean? I hope it was sufficient,
cheers, Matt.
