I have a feeling Geoff Pearce may have put this photo on in another post.

Anyway, here goes, George Steeden's 'Black Panther' GT, Kamikaze behind it, again, 8th May 1976 for the 1st round of the Japanese series.

George at the boot of the GT, then myself and I'm afraid I don't know who the third person is.

Love the 70's hairdo's!

Amaroo Park Hillclimb, another round of the 1976 Japanese series I would guess.

In the far background can be seen my Wasp Long Wheelbase Tow vehicle.

For some reason I was known on occasion as the 'Sticker Kid', something to do with all the vinyl stick on's I guess.

Geoff Pearce's name is prominent on the front guard, still too young to drive, he was a tremendous help in my endeavours.

And up the hill we go, Amaroo Park Hill Climb was a demanding course, very steep and very narrow with some harrowing sharp bends.

Another Round of the Japanese Series for 1976, this time the Amaroo Park Dirt Circuit, what a ball this event was, the back straight (sweeping curve actually) would see around 80-90 MPH, with nowhere to go if a mistake was made.

The tail out attitude would have been helped by the CIG Locker.

Pretty sure this is a 1500 motor with the fully worked head and twin 45mm Webers, it was nothing in those days to swap engines around between vehicles.

I suspect this would have been before putting the GT engine in.

Hi Ted,
I think the Wasp in the back ground may have been my first Wasp. I purchased it from Dave Garnon when he had no more room for it. Back then nobody wanted them ?
Unfortunately that one too has long gone.
I remember your old Screaming Squirrel, and Georges GT, and also Allan Linton Smith and Geoff Pearce had sedans that we hung over the fences to watch at all the local Sydney circuits, which sadly none of them exist anymore.
Good to see the old photos, keep em coming. I will show mum the thread next week when she comes down, I am sure she will remember those days too.
Cheers
Warren Gore

Love the history, love the photos. Odd to see the GT with the chrome strip above the door handles like on a sedan. And also noticing the rear guard mod on the squirrell.

AWESOME.....

B.

Hi Ted, I think the third person in the pic of you and George with your cars at Oran Park is Kath Steeden
