Re: Water pumps
there is a thread here

A LONG SHOT Many pumps shown in pictures here...... one would imagine if all is lost, there just might be something that can be adapted. Maybe not.

Re: Water pumps
Well it depends if you are a purist or not.
With my Asroc I am using a Davies Craig electric pump EWP80 $220, custom aluminium inlet fitting for lower hose $70 and taped 6AN fitting for auxiliary port to front of block $35
Flow rate constant 80L / minute idle to WOT
Cheers

Davo.
The first model KB20 that was released was called a Chevrolet LUV. This had a g161 OHV engine similar to the GT in cc.
Later they fitted the G161Z. SOHC as per Gemini. The waterpump from the OHV will fit. If you look at the listing that Glenn
has put up and go to page 19 you will see that it is the 1. Part ref. PWP1001. The other pump listed is the G161Z. (PWP827). The listing dates are incorrect as well as the engine type.

Soooo...I can buy a PWP1001 Chevy Luv pump, gut it, install the impeller into the Bellett housing and...success? Seems like a long shot.

Re: Water pumps
Clarification to what I have advised on my last post.
The chev luv pump will only fit 5 bearing G150/161 engines. Part numbers GWIS-13A GMB. CPO 319 in SILVERLINE.
The wp1001 will only fit the G161s engine that is in my GT convertible. Strangely enough. The gasket is identicle but the
Chev pump has a relief hole in the outlet where the GT has a mounting bolt. Outlet to the right on the sedan where the GT
is to the left and goes down under the timing cover and then to the right. Uses a steel elbow joined with 2 hoses.
This subject is 1 of many that I think about and check when possible. I will not advise anybody that something will
fit or adapt until I have thoroughy checked and tested myself.

Thanks Dave...just to clarify your clarification...
...a WP1001 will fit my GT, but outlet will be on the wrong side?
I've found this pump online for purchase, I may give it a crack and see if I can make it work.
Now the engine is out of the car, I really would like to service or replace as much as possible. Given the nature of my work, gawd knows when I'll have the readies to do it again any time soon.

Re: Water pumps
As far as I'm aware the wp1001 will only fit the G161s. i.e. SOHC engine with 2 drive chains.
I've taken photos of the pumps that I have and in the process of checking any fouling of the main body of the pump and height. My scanner isn't working. So I took everything to work and we got busy. And I couldn't do anything. Might have
the oportunity in the next few days when all staff are there.
I'll keep you all posted.

A 'good price' would probably be $100ea, so I'd only need to outlay a lousy $10k...i'll check down the back of the couch.

Re: Water pumps
i have been trying for the last 6 months to get a Chinese Manufacturer to do a run of pumps and i dont want to order 500!
hope to get a minimum order quantity of 200 but as they have to setup the line for the run and not too many enquiries come in for that
specific pump, its hard to get them done...
or they want 100US for each item??
get real fellows.
i will keep trying to get it done.

Re: Water pumps
Greetings everyone
I picked up this kit a few months back, the seller said it was for a Luv, the body to cyl and pump to body packing or gaskets are exactly the same form and fit as the ones from the G130 and I assume this is the same for both the G130 & G150 3 bearing engine. I haven't verified the bearing or seal but they look the same ..

Re: Water pumps
Hi guys,
Confirmation today, sadly, OHC water pumps do not share any components with, nor can they be modified to suit the OHV pump. The bearing and shaft is larger than the OHV, so no chance of interchanging either, as with the seal. The bearing and shaft are too large in diameter to machine the OHV housing to fit.
Thanks to Oz for donating an OHC pump to the cause, but sadly, if we want a ready supply of OHV pumps we'll need to source them specifically. I can produce CAD to suit, of course, maybe we can modify to fit a readily available bearing and seal?
