it is really very exciting to get the first Sports in AUS.
did you ever find out what happened to the quite nice one with the missing fuel tank that was for sale in Jap.
i made an offer on it and never got a reply!
its getting exciting...

yes, semi retirment should be great but i am told you never have enough time in the day although, equally, time moves at a new pace when retired. ...... get up a bit later, coffee breaks, longer lunch etc.... so i am told. LOL
I will certainly be keeping a FULL photo record of this car. It is very exciting for me at least. Even my wife, who is very cool on the whole idea of another Bellett (another 'old' car of any type) , is now asking when it will arrive.
The white 4 door Sport with no tank apprently got sold.

I can nearly smell the car Glenn
Boat was in Brisbane two days ago, in Sydney tomorrow night/Saturday......only a matter of days away now.......
Unfortunately there won't be any photos at the wharf though. Container comes off the boat and is transported to quarantine yard.....Collection will be from there...

Hi Glenn,
Pitty your not in Brissy, the sport would be on the ground, and who knows, you may of had your hands on it by now
My car should be registered by the end of next week, and then want to give it a couple of good shake down runs to make sure it's ok.
Time is running short, I had sent it back to paint shop about 5 weels ago to have some touch ups and bits that I wasn't happy with fixed, got it back yesterday morning, and with Gregs help gave it a good day yesterday to get ready for inspection for compliance, which will be early next week.
Cheers Geoff

maybe I am lucky it did not 'fall off the boat' up there ...
Sounds like you are almost ready to drive away. Did you end up altering the rear lights to add 'reverse lamp. What did you use to for reverse switch off gearbox. ??
Far as I can tell here, i just need roadworthy cert for Club reg and thats it.

I mis-read that at first; I thought your wife was, like, totally cool 'with' it. Then I realised she was cool 'on' it....
THAT'S A BIG DIFFERENCE!
Oh well, at least she seems to be warming to it (so, becoming more cool 'with' it than 'on' it).
Old cars; Belletts especially, have been your passion since time began, Glenn so you should be allowed to indulge.
Hell, it's healthier than being a meth enthusiast, at least.
Cheers,
Dave

Well, slight problem. She doesn't know about the spare car !! Maybe if she did warm up to the old cars. I could fix the spare for her and we could arrive in twin Sports Belletts ? Wishful thinking I think.

Won't be customs either. How it works - container is unloaded from boat, passes through customs, then is transported to quarantine yard (once customs clearance is approved) which is where they will be collected from. I should know more information on Monday/Tuesday in regards to which yard to collect from.
May even be able to collect on Friday (all going well)......
Smooth sailing so far.....no pun intended!!!

Friday would be great................ will then have the weekend to get it ready for the road
will be a busy day though....... moving two cars will take some time. Is there any problem with taking the cars some hours apart ??
I will have to try hire a trailer from service station or maybe borrow from a workmate if he can spare. He keeps his MGA on it in is shed.
how much notice will we have, Jason ?

It's killing me too ! Been waiting since mid June now.
Offers to "look after" the 2nd car are much appreciated.
Unless I can find a way to do it, If my wife finds out about this 2nd car, I might have to move interstate myself ............
