I'm with mrflibbles, a soft powder blue (similar to Datto 180B colour) with an ivory white roof & cream leather or velour interior.

My vote Original colour,with pearl in paint,reason,you have a real pearler there,then build set of ramps to load a Bellett on the back,maybe even a Pink GT on the back for a splash colour ;) Gerry

Really? That last post was a year and a half ago? Where does the time go?

Well, Dobby got into the shed a couple of months ago. I get a few hours here and there to do a bit.
Pulled the non functioning clutch master cylinder out. It was full of gunge of course. Put it back together with new parts, but still no go. Its non original, and the piston requires a short, grooved primary cup. So I've fitted a shorter piston from another kit. I will try it tomorrow.

Its good to check the brake lines. The flexi one had been rubbing on the hanbrake linkage. It was wrapped with gaffa tape!
The copper line had a kink, so had a new one made. They have to be steel now, by law. Strange, the old one was still pliable, and probably fine, apart from the kink. I didn't want it splitting.

does the flex line have the same strange threads as a bellett ? If so where did you get it made

Glenn,I had new ones made for the Wasp. Any brake and clutch specialist should be able to do it. If not Pirtek, or any similar hydraulic company could do it.

In the distant past i tried to get hoses made and the reply was the threads are non standard and the fittings have to be custom made.

The local brake guys reused the Bellett fittings with new hose

The hose was made by ACT brake service, a long term old school buisness. They made it by machining the end and cutting the threads by hand. This is because it has a mixture of metric and UNF threads! Cost $43. Pretty good I reckon.
Male end is 10x1 european (metric).Female is 10x1.25 and 5/8 unf.
Tube has 3/8x24 UNF nuts.
Bleed screws are UNF, but now a 10mm spanner fits at least.
Total cost 71.90.

not sure what you mean by 'tube has 3/8x24 nuts'.

Hmmm, tick tock! Time flies by, but back into Dobby now as I want him on the road.
I had to have a couple more lines made. The end of the rear section of the brake line that runs along the chassis was frozen. When I pulled it out, it had a badly pitted section, so just as well.
That description of the flare nuts above came from the receipt, and another brake place I went to said that my fittings are different, so Glenn, I'm not sure how they should be described.
I've fitted all the lines and bled them through.
Next job was to replace the clutch fluid line as it wouldnt seal into the master cylinder.
Today I fitted it, we bled the clutch, and it works!
Next was to lube up the selector linkages. I can now sellect all 5 gears!

Tomorrow he might even move under his own power! Hopefully!

I was pretty excited.
He has a surprising turning circle, a bit tighter than a Bellett and way tighter than a Florian. Somehow he turns more tightly to the right, might be a wheel alignment needed.
So, the clutch works, all the gears select, even reverse, and the brakes are surprisingly effective, considering theres no booster.
So now it might be time to get into some paint!

:lol: Weeks to spare? I dunno....
Colour is under discussion. The poll earlier on the thread suggested original. I thought he had been a green tint off white, like some Belletts. But when I removed a front parking light, the colour underneath is grey.....Aunty Mary grey.....AKA Nissan underbonnet grey. I have enough grey, so I reckon he will be a new colour. But what one? Wasp blue is one suggestion. Not 'Isuzu truck blue' though, too much of that about. I think Dennis' new one in '67 was beige. I think I will stay with the white roof and two tone it. Hmmm...
Open to further suggestions.
