Hi everyone. I'm currently putting the front end of the racing Bullett together and am wondering if any of you have information on where I could find the necessary rubber bushes, compatibility with other makes or so forth. I'm particularly looking for those that go through the upper and lower wishbones.

Me too Andrew !
One of the upper bushes in the Sport needs replacing. I forgot where in these threads, but somebody mentioned an available bush that fits with small modifications?????

Hi Glen, thanks for the reply. The Sport is looking good. Does the rego plate mean that its completed?

I looked through all the threads in the Brakes, wheels... etc. section and found reference to bushes but couldn't find any more detail. I'll keep trolling as I'm sure someone else has asked the same question. My brother has offered to machine new ones out of brass but I think even for a track car that will be PRETTY HARSH.

And to all other Belletters, I've been flat out with other (non-car) stuff lately so aologise for being a silent partner on the forum. Hope you are all well and your four wheel ( or two) projects are progressing at a more rapid rate than mine.

Andrew,yes she is on the road from late last year. Mind you only been out a couple of times on the ninety day permit so far! But should be on Sunday as there is a car show not far away (Pakenham). Show for all old cars. Should be fun but I can't seem to get any other takers so far.

Sport still could do with more work but basically it's "tidy".

I think someone from Queensland has info on bushes??? Something close I believe.

I am about to spend $500+ to heim joint the remaining four bushings on my Gemini FF race car, because bushings for that application are in line after the Bellett bushings. And I need them for this season.
People are finally spending money on car parts this spring, now that it finally got above freezing. But not even up to last year's volume and it will have to increase tenfold to yield any more than the cost of restocking existing items.

This is my worst nightmare:
Every month or two, another Bellett owner will decide they need to replace their bushings, find the cheapest and least effective/desirable solution, and by the time decent bushings become available, no one will want to disassemble their car to put them in, and just ride around on wadded gum until the owner is too old to drive any more.

how'd u go with the front end mods to improve the camber and castor mate? u'll definitly need to do work there on a bellett of any kind that u want to handle, especially a track car!
as u'd remember when u looked at mine, it's full of red nolathane bushes... but as to what they are is anyone's guess. i got them off another bellett head around here, and he didn't know what they were either, but from memory they needed a slight spin in a lathe so they'd go in... anyway, point is that there's something close that'll give u a start if someone else can verify with a part number.

i have done them but i cant remember what the part numbers were. I took samples into pedders and matched them i tnink the top ones had a smaller id but we machined the steel sleeve that pedders supplied to press fit inside the larger steel insert. I could not get any the fit the rear swing arms.

if anyone has spare arms/bushes i have a good contact at pedders that can probably match them up (like has been said they may need a little modding)
If i had the arms removed from my bellett i would gladly take them in and get them matched up, just so we can find out part numbers.

Front end bushes...wanted. Did anyone have any luck sourcing some suitable bushes for a road car?

i havent as yet, as i havent pulled my car apart to look and get measurements. If someone has arms out and can measure the bushes id be happy to get my friend to match them up.

Hi Guys,
Did anyone find any more information on suspension bushes ?
I am hoping to make a start on the GT this year (soon) and will need to replace all the suspension bushes, front and rear. I will also need the rubber mounts for the steering rack, and sway bar ( which I assume should be fairly easy to obtain ).
I would also like to replace the ball joints if new parts are available anywhere, as they are what killed my original GT.
Tie rods and Tie rod ends ? is there anything out there that is suitable ?

I am hoping to get some upper & lower arms so I can spec them up, but not sure when it will happen. Swaybar bushes are fairly easy to get and the rack bushes are also reasonably readily available. Ball joints I would have no idea on or tie rod ends at this stage, if I had a spare tie rod end (or all the measurements/thread pitch/taper etc) they may be able to be matched up to something, but I wouldn't hold my breathe yet!

For lower front arms I bought a stick of 50mm nylon and had my brother turn them up on his lathe. We then threw the old rubber ones in a fire to burn the rubber off and collect the steel insert, pressed this in and then pressed them into the arms.
I did get some from Pedders which could be turned up but went with above instead as nylon is easier to turn up.

how does the nylon bushes feel on the road? Its an option I never thought of?

Going out on a limb but didn't Isuzu manufacture the Minx and Isuzu 'Learnt' from this experience and 'Utilised' a number of design components.

Also I have Mike Quinn in SA researching Tie Rod ends for all of us on the forum
I have a sneaking suspision that early model Toyota Corona 1964-69 will do the trick
