Just a note to let members know that Bellett/Bellell Forum comradeship is alive and well ,and as Greg found out in Japan, operates Internationally. AnneMarie and I have recently also experienced this on our recent Road Trip USA holiday. The friendship and hospitality extended to us by Mark and Jeanine at Tampa and then Trevor and Gee at Portsmouth was really exceptional with meals ,accommodation and tours provided as well as the mandatory Bellett/ Bellell extended discussions. Marks PR10, 1300, late model 2 door sedan is in excellent condition and requires only minor work to make it a very desirable vehicle (it already is rare and desirable ) Trevors Bellel is a time warp machine . 34,000 miles ,still on original cross ply tyres, clear plastic still on some of the interior handles ,air con. cruise control, fabric interior (excellent condition ) diesel motor. In Australia both of these cars would be unique. I would love to see both parties attend an Aust. Bellett Nationals because their enthusiasm and friendliness would fit right in to, and add to , the spirit of the Nationals.(nearly have to call it the "Bellett Internationals."..... !) We would like to thank our US members for 2 of the high lights of our trip. Thanks.
Should probably mention that we visited a friend of ours in Colorado (ex Ballarat ) who has a mobile wheat seed cleaning business and he uses Isuzu trucks (Japanese trucks as well as cab over engine configuration are unusual in USA ) and his newest trucks are "Isuzu" but branded "Dodge. "
For anyone interested fuel averaged $1 / litre, motels $ averaged $80 / night , we drove 24,000 kms. over 9 weeks. in a hired Dodge 7 seater people mover . USA is not expensive, roads are excellent, people really friendly , and there are heaps of things to do and see.
