I think they are only on the teardrops. Again, no real reason for them though i think. You could make them up if all else fails. Auto elec could probably do it for you.

Think they had something to do with trying to prevent static in the car radio reception.
I would have thought that they would have been " after market " fitments . My Teardrop does not have them.

Looking at the way that the mesh strap is attached I would say that it's a home job by a previous owner.
Doesn't look remotely like the sort of fitment method any manufacturer would do. A bit shoddy and as the rest say "never seen it on any other Bellett before"
I've only ever seen that sort of thing on a mates old FJ Holden and it was fitted by his uncle when they installed their Ferris picnic radio, possibly to eliminate static as Kerry mentioned.

What advantage would it have as bonnet already earthed through hinges? The older cars had a earth strap from motor to body mainly to earth starter motor.

I throw my head on the chopping block Dave the car will be fine without them. But if you want cosmetic try a auto electrician.

I think I recall it on the pastel blue one at Bemboka Bellett blokes though can't quiet remember... But a close look at catologue 6A2-1 the open bonnet pic the car has one. It may help but may help but I shall have a look at the one under the morris between the cross member and gearbox and give you some mesurements if it is similar enough I can give you the number of a Alex a guy on the bayside that hopefully should have one. I'm guessing with years of being covered in leaking oil and a lack of movement compared to the dry hot conditions of an engineb ay of a bellett then they shall be in a more preserved condition.

Ahh, the fun little things!
They were original fit, and yeah only on teardrops. My 65 column shift has em, but Doris (66) doesn't. :?
Probable that they have been removed from some by previous owners. Likely they are to stop static, as the hinges are a sliding loose contact, like a trailer tow ball. But do we really need two?? More evidence of over engineering, they just wanted them to be right, and tough. One strap frays off, the other still does the job. :D

Cheers, Matt.

It may be only on Generator cars (64/65) not Alternator (66) as the Generator may create more radio interference possibly??
As the bits I have read says they are to reduce interference on am radio.
