Thanks for that, what great coverage of the Bellett, Holden, Mini battle, it just makes me mad to think that a drunk driver took me out on the street and destroyed the car.

The Driver of the Bellett was Bob Drane. from memory he was a car dealer.

The Bellett club had not yet been started at that stage.

As stated from the beginning.... Bob Drane.
He wasn't a dealer. He ran "Drane's Tuning Shoppe" and did hot up work on Bellett's for John Malcom Motors among others. He also made some hot up bits for Bellett's under the "DAS" name, most commonly inlet manifolds for sedan heads to use twin SU carbs. I've got one in my collection.
He built the original red "Project Bellett" for Wheels magazine that was written off between the 2nd and 3rd installments. This car was built as a replacement and further developed.
It was later owned by "Teditor" and used for club racing as well as road use. As also stated, it was written off in a road accident in the mid 70's.
