Wasp Windscreens Queensland

The bloke who I sold the Rustin Wasp to yesterday is after a new windscreen. Does another know the guy in Brisbane who used to sell them? At last report he was operating a windscreen replacement business on the northside (he used to own the factory that made them at Tingalpar) I cant remember his name and nothing is coming up in the search function.

PS the new owner is putting the wasp back on the road over the next year, so he might be throwing some questions up here soon. If you could help him out it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dean

Hi Dean,
Moran glass can supply them. They are made overseas now though.
Glenn is trying to secure some too, but they need some measurements to differentiate between the early and later models.
I don’t have my Wasp to measure, but if you can help they need the height in the centre and the width at the bottom.

I'm not certain of this, as it's been a long time since I had an early sedan but i think the vertical height at the A pillars is also different between early and late screens ?

Hi, thank you for the info on Wasp windscreens. I will be able to remove the windscreen in 2 weeks when I start removing a lot of other parts and measure the middle and end heights. Hopefully there will be a match with the early Belletts.

Moran have a screen in stock to make a pattern from, but they don't know if it's an early or late model screen.

If you could take it once out, to Moran, they can confirm which it is. I suspect early.

Glenn,
I did get the screen for my Wasp from Moran Glass. I can confirm it is the same as the early Bellett screen. Also when I first enquired about it they were out of stock, but it wasn’t a problem to order one in from the factory.

have to be 100% certain of course. I haven't been inundated with people wanting screens though so far. :) Just Craig who want's one (maybe 2) down here.

From my distant memory though, only early screens were ordered long ago. My Sport is late model (72) and I have a couple of laminated screens, NOS here. There were many of these screens floating about at one point. Some though with age have started to de-laminate around the edge. Mine 'seem' ok.

Update on windscreen.

I picked up the new windscreen from Moran's last month and it was confirmed that the Wasp is the same as the early Belletts.

I spoke to one of the owners and got the feeling that they will not be around forever so it would help them if you all refer anyone - with any classic car - to them so they remain profitable.

They have a lot of stock in house so anyone would be able to buy a windscreen for their classic car and get it quickly.

Also picked up a dif centre - 3.9 from a Piazza to replace the 4.55 dif and give better performance and mileage. I do not plan to do hill climbs so the 4.55 dif centre is available if anyone needs one.

Craig (tomanybelletts) You might like to contact Moran for your need.

Yes Glenn , I spoke to them just before xmas - he had a sample of an early sedan screen . I'll be ordering early 2022 . Brett might be interested in the 4.55 diff for his hillclimb car .

Craig.... you mean the mould you own that everyone else has decided they can use without thanks?
I want a 4.11. Already got 2x 4.56's.
I'm surprised that car has a 4.56 in it again. It had a 3.9 LSD when it was down here.

Yes Brett , the mould I "own" is in Vietnam evidently - Morans don't deal with them anymore .

Hi, I remember the guy at Morans told me they had made another mold - the windscrenn I bought from them was new - looked to be fairly recent manufacture.
