Great site! There is never enough these kind of Bellett sites...
I have been Isuzu-enthusiast since 1977.
I visited Australia in 1993 (if I remember right..) when you had a big meeting in Canberra. There was also 4 visitors from Japan and me and Toshihiko Ikeda were the judges of your Isuzu contest (best original Bellett, best original Gemini, best tuned Bellett, the runner-ups...etc,etc... you had a lots of trophys...). I stayed in Barry Hughans house and visited many of your members, f.ex Tom Amos (saw him racing with his GT). A lots of good memories of my journey to Australia... Barry crashed his front wheel drive Gemini when we were trying to find wombats at night.. Barry did everything that I had an interesting and exiting holiday

I was 21 years the president of Isuzu Owners´ Club ry Finland and we had a lots of co-operation with Barry. We bought 8 2-liter and 2 1,8-liter twincams and 5-speed gearboxes from Barry (Barry also made a 2-liter 175hp motor for my GT) and we helped each other and our clubs with new and used parts.
Do you know what is Peter Areskogs e-mail adress? Peter visited me in the early 90´s. I have tried to find his e-mail adress and find one but it was not working anymore.
You are wellcome to visit our club site

Welcome on board! When we advertised this site on about 3 forums the other day, I had no idea we'd have so many international guests!
Thanks for taking an interest in the site!
Wow you are a long-term, hardcore enthusiast! Great to have you on the site.
You need to stick some photos up in the photos section!
Cheers,
Dave

I just checked and it was 1993 when I visited Australia and your Canberra meeting (30.7 - 2.8). But I also have photos from the 1992 meeting. Barry Hughan has sent me these photos and there is a photo of "Best modified sedan", white and number plate IB-1969. Yours?? The world is so small...

yes, that's it.
it was my first car. that 1st trophy was won 2 days before my 18th birthday, and was before i even had my drivers licence!!
could you post that photo up here, by any chance, please??
i think i've written on here somewhere about one of my car's that left my possesion about 10 years ago that has now returned to be rebuilt... this is the same car.
i gave the rolling shell to craig, who was going to build a race car along the same idea as mine (1.8 or 2.0 gemini engine, 5 speed, modified diff, lots of suspension work, 4 wheel disc brakes with 4 spot calpiers, roll cage, race seat and harness, fuel cell, etc.) in a late shell to paint it like an orange GT-R sedan thing, but he never went very far with it as work got in the way.
anyway, it has returned to us now with all the panel and paint work in the engine bay, inside, boot, underneath, etc. done, so it's going to be turned back into a road car, but a quick one. it'll have a 2.0 gemini engine, 5 speed, 4 wheel disc with 4 spots, all the good stuff, and he'll continue with the orange that craig started with, along with the black bits, stripes, bumper-ettes etc., so it'll be a pretty hot little GT-R looking sedan.
it might take a while yet though, as there's another car to be finished first. it's another odd-ball, rare car too that's been an ongoing project, but it's getting there.
cheers.
brett.

you can tell him that if want wish... but i'd learn to run first.
he can actually do the computer stuff he needs to for work, but he couldn't care less about most things, including the net.

i get on here more now though, but still when i can get time!!
Antti Pellonpää wrote:Brett, is that your car in the photo?
yep, that was it.
it changed around a bit in the few years that followed, and i finally took it off the road in 1998.
there's a long story to all of this, but i'll leave that until later. i'm going to... one day... post up alot of pics of my past and current cars, and the story about each one, so i'll tell you more then.
anyway, it's been around all the time since, and i knew where it was all along, but it's now come back into our "collection" again.
