a little update on this one.
Bullitt:- thanks for the supply of a globe holder etc.
I made up a jig to hold the polycarbonate sheet to turn a distant copy of the lenses.
It sort of works ok but i need to 'perfect' the lathe speed and cutting angle. It's getting a bit hot and distorting the lense.
I ground a tool to do the whole outisde face of the lenses. Internally it is flat though. Not an easy think to do, if you want to turn both sides of it.

Re: Rear Number Plate Glass Light Covers.
thanks Dave.... just need a bit of time also. I did that 2 weeks ago ? just after your part arrived.
it should work. I need to fiddle with the cutting angle of the tool also. I am trying to make is a one pass operation, just wind the tool inwards. The final cut then made with a hole saw.
I need to verify if the std bulb will fit also, with the flat inner surface of the new 'lens'

Re: Rear Number Plate Glass Light Covers.
I have a glass so thats ok. This won't be an exact copy by any means but at least the outside will be 'domed' like original and a 'frosted' look from the cutting action. One could polish it you wanted clear look.
i need to find a globe to see what space there is inside. do you know what wattage they are ? 5W i would imagine....
we have BCCV outing this Sunday plus i have a appoinment sat. so probably won't get much done again this week. (too cold in the shed for night work ! )
