Re: Dennis Smith Operation updates

Post by dave »

Hey guys,

Yeah I was thinking of him the other day, wondering if/when the operation was occurring.

Many thanks for the update; I wish him the speediest of recoveries. I've given up re-telling the story about him drifting his bike around the young'ins only to need help putting the stand down at the other end... because nobody believes me!

I hope he's back on the bike and back in the Bellett ASAP in the new year.

Cheers guys,

Dave

All,
I have spoken to Denis on his mobile, they have switched his contraption on and he is delighted with the result, Denis comments, "the result is far better than he expected".
GREAT news for Denis, I will be visiting Denis tomorrow, I will update then if no other posts appear.

Great news , thanks for keeping everyone updated.

That photo did give me a cold shiver though! No wonder he described the sound as being like a helicopter inside his head! Next tooth I get drilled will be like "oh yeah, theres a little vibration......"
That he had to be conscious while they opened up his skull & put electrodes into his brain......
GAAAAAAAAAAAAHH................!

Amazing amazing surgeons and researchers to work out how to do all this, truely AWESOME!
So grateful,
Cheers, Matt.

Yesterday afternoon I visited Denis, well what a surprise I got!!

Arriving at the Hospital I took the elevator to the first floor, to find Denis in room 69. After approximately 1/2 hour to 45 minutes I had to leave.
Denis said I will walk down with you. :o Do you think Denis would take the elevator, NO BLOODY WAY, he wanted to show off and we took the stairs, 2 stair cases, he never missed a beat, you would never have known he was suffering with Parkinsons!! He looked sensational, except for the clips across his forehead, where they have inserted part of the device, in my opinion you would never know :!: :!: .
WOW, bloody WOW, he is so happy with the result so far and it is so pleasing to see him so happy
After the op the brain swells, as normal, as soon as the swelling goes down and the clips are removed, also Denis learns how to monitor the divice he is out of Hospital, at this time looks like Christams Eve to go home. :D
Denis said the result is far better than he had expected, both Denis and Margaret are delighted.

I wish them both all the very best, sincerely hoping Denis will be home for Christmas.
