Mystery sighting

Post by Farmer »

Hi all. I've mentioned my mate Dave before. He is the one who found Jimmy the barnfind teardrop just 20ks away, and the shooting buggy Florian, and more recently the teardrop and Florian just 35ks away. Hes a good bloke and put me onto all of them and now they are here.
Well, he just had a drive, a longish one, to the salt flats in SA for the speed runs. He went further to places like Innaminka, just for a look. He was telling me about the trip, when he said, "Hey, did Isuzu make a Bellett wagon?"

You know that feeling where your heart speeds up a little, and your legs get a little weaker? That happened.
Dave knows his cars, he saw the Florian from 200m away without binoculars..... He said it was just like a Bellett at the front, but was a wagon, down Mildura way. Sadly he has no photo, so we dont realy know, but I wonder....

Cheers, Matt.

 I even forgot it was April first! No, this is a true story.
Dave knows the difference between a shvelnose, but I wonder if it might have been an Alfa? It was a passing sighting, and he didnt go back. I told him they weren't sold here, but neither were 73-on Crown wagons or coupes, but I have seen both. There were supposedly no teardrop automatics, until I found Doris. Prince Super Clippers were possibly sold here, but none were known until Gary Carter found one for Kerry.
So, unlikely stuff happens. And Dave has a knack of finding Isuzus. One day I reckon he will find me a 6 tonner.(tx 550)
:D Matt.

Stcky is a very lucky man. I never knew anyone had actually seen one. Especially here in Aus.
Would love to just see one, let alone own one.

There IS (or at least was) one just north of Townsville that I saw up close and personal years ago (late 90's - early 2000's can't remember exactly when) I went back a couple of years after and couldn't find the car again as family had moved (where??? maybe down south??)
It was a one original owner car brought in by old Japanese gentleman who moved here to live with his daughter and son inlaw after his wife past. Said (translated by daughter) that he would be buried with the car.
I was a complete car but a bit rusty from memory. Possibly the family moved down there or perhaps someone convinced him to part with it or maybe there is another - or more here that no one has ever know of.
Bit like the Bellett sedans that came into Australia privately in 63/64 before Isuzu started bringing them in themselves in 64.....

Who knows :?: :?:

Nice. I can report back to Dave that it was a definate possibility!
Perhaps there will be another sighting, and we will get a pic for 'random bellett photos'.
:) Matt.
