You gave me this information previously and I did take it to several paint shops here in Adelaide but they could not help even with those numbers provided. I have worked my way through the multitude of oranges on the market and believe me there are quite a lot. We sprayed quite a few samples onto the rear quarter to see which one had the depth and was closest to the Maple Orange that you mentioned. In the end we settled on a Holden colour called Valencia Orange, It is vibrant but has that depth of colour that we were looking for and I believe it will do the car justice. I know it is not original and this is something new for me to deviate from that path but given we are not talking sheep stations in the car value I felt it would be nice to try something different. As far as the rest of the car goes I will be trying to keep the trim and mechanical components as close to original as possible. The wheels will be either mini-lites or wantanabe still have to decide and of course availability will play a part.

Tom Amos in Sydney has a GTR in maple orange i think...... He might have details of paint mix.
Tom's is a Porsche orange.
Don't ask me which one tho.
After a lot of filling and sanding we finally have our first coat of hi-build primer on. Now all we need to do is sand down and hit with a second coat. Finally we have turned the corner and it is a good feeling. I hope everybody is well , as both of us here are 71 Helen and I have chosen to go into self isolation so it is a time to get a lot of things done around the house, the car being one of those items.

Thanks for your comments guys, much appreciated.Good advice Glenn, at my age I could easily forget. Plan of attack is rub this coat back apply a second coat and rub back. After that is completed apply colour to the engine bay,boot and all the door jams here at my place. We will then bolt the guards and doors on and take to the painters where he will do the exterior in the booth plus the bonnet and boot lid.
Maybe by the end of April colour will be completed. Going for a GTR colour scheme with black gloss bonnet and black rear beaver panel along with side stripes. Am probably not going to paint the extra inch of black on the top of the front guards, masking for that just adds to much to the job.
I know some of the purists will be turning in their graves and I will just have to live with that.
Finished sanding back the first coat and applied the second coat of high solid today. More rubbing back this week then final coat of primer, rub back and colour. Getting close now.

Picked this up from the electroplaters this afternoon, nice clean bits to bolt the panels and doors back on. Money well spent I reckon, cost all of $50.
Bargain on the plating, really finishes them off nicely. I'm surprised it was so cheap.
Your car your colour I reckon, I'm sure it will be beautiful. Geoff will be excited to see it.

Thanks for your words of encouragement guys, I really appreciate it and it helps the motivation. I have been busy sanding back the body this weekend and it is coming up a treat. Next Tuesday we will apply the final coat of primer , do a wet rub back with 600 and then colour.
Matt I do not think I have met Geoff is he someone I should know?

What I was thinking is the doors bolted on with the new rubbers weight in the doors that's the same as glass frame trim and then block across the door rear quarter gap front guards on and do the same
Shine the flurou light down the side to get a continual line with no zig zags
That would get it to paint without more expense on your behalf
Just my opinion
I am sure it will look fantastic

The process we will be going through prepping for final exterior paint is similar to what you have described. On Tuesday we applied the final coat of primer and got into all the nooks and crannies including extra coats in the engine bay and boot. This week I am rubbing back all the edges of the panels, the door frames engine bay and boot using a scotch brite type of pad. We are not touching the panels. This coming Tuesday we will apply colour to all the edges of the panels including the boot engine bay and door frames. We will then bolt all the panels back onto the car and give the car exterior a complete wet rub using 600 grit. Once completed it will go to a friends spray shop for him to apply the exterior coat, this will be done in his booth. All going well we will achieve this in the next couple of weeks.

i read this post with pride that ''i '' got this long forgotten gt back into the world it has sat at nowra with 2 other pr90's and a pr91 for many many years .As you know i travel with my work and was in townsville some short time ago went into a old wreckers and asked the owner if he had any dinosaurs '' what sort was his reply '' i said .belletts ....he said wait a minute and he was back and showed me a picture of 3 gt belletts (WHAT ?? ) ive won the lotto he tells me he was in the army with this guy at nowra havnt seen him for years .. he gives me his name i go back to the motel im staying in that night find geoffs phone number and we have a conversation ironically im in nowra that next week ...we meet we talk and he sees my enthusiasm .. and he sells me the best of the 90's we do the biz iget it back home after 2 years find im further away from driving this than going to the moon you are (right donkey should have just drove it as is ) but i wanted one like lewis so it goes to port macquarie ( well it nearly did ..another storey )gunna gets it peter advertises he wants one i marry him up with gunna and the rest is history ...im the one with egg on my face ..at least its in brilliant hands and geoff still has some more left ....thats my storey for tonight love or not cheers bullitt ...yes it was too hard for me im a muso peter is ''the man''

Thank you for sharing your story Dave, as you rightly pointed out I would not have this car if it had not been for you pointing me in the direction of Dean. I am grateful for that and happy that you believe the car is in good hands. I heard Geoff mentioned in a post on this thread recently but did not know who he was and asked Matt to clarify, It becomes perfectly clear now. I hope he is happy with what has been done to his car.
Dave, you seem to be the man finding these cars and perhaps you can give me a lead to an item I appear to be missing. The chrome or stainless strips that are on the door trims and rear quarter cards appear to be held on by clips and I have ransacked all the parts I have and have not found them. I have spoken with Dean about them and he does not have them. Can you point me in a direction where I may be able to obtain some (they may have used the same ones in the PR91). I am assuming they used clips as I do not have a parts manual that shows this item and am going by the holes that are in these parts that leads one to believe there was some sort of device e.g. clip to hold them on.
Any leads any one can give me regarding this item would be greatly appreciated.
