Glenn, I need all the glass and the door frames and yes I have the other door it just had a broken hinge pin.

I am so keen to get this going lots to think about but really happy with the condition.

What are everyones thoughts on fitting bolt on flares, I like to know if anyone has fitted them before. I like the look and most would have seen them fitted to other Japanese models like 510's etc.

I am not a fan of bolt on flares.... I have done metal flares in the past, but would never do it again, spoils the 'pure' look of these cars i think.

ok, all glass. But you have no door glass frames at all?

For the quarters you will probably need a donor sedan with rear doors to make them up. Plus some metal around and including the boot lid by the look of it. Going to be quite a job all round.

I would have a good look at 3d printing option first?

Have you thought of chopping the roof lower - Early 50 low rider look - spats, decorative front trim

You might need to do some checking with engineer or your rego people to see whats allowed before going too far. Track increases can be an issue.

This is what I am thinking of Glenn with regards to flares!

I am in the process of discussing the flares and track changes with the engineer and we will see what he has to say but early conversations have been positive, trying not to get the Bellett in the ICV category if it ends up there it will be a nightmare so I will keep discussing with the engineer.

I have no door frames or quarter windows for the doors but I am onto a contact in Japan to source the whole set at one hit as they are not expensive to buy in good condition it just the freight and getting them home in one piece.

I picked up my bargain gearbox today for the SR20, its a huge box (long) but I can fit an offset shifter to hopefully get it back to where it needs to be.

I am going to look at an S15 rear Suspension complete next week and talking to someone who has done this conversion in Datsun 510 which is similar in width to the Bellett (shortened cradle & new drive shafts). I need to just decide on what wheels to fit, what does everyone think of these?

if he still has the 510 suspension... maybe thats an easier fit in the GT

Bolt on flares. UGH!
I see these on Instagram from Japan making otherwise nice cars look uuuuug-leeeee. Same as the extreme negative camber fad and those horrid table things they bolt under the front.
Its a bit like huge tatoos and multiple piercings on a pretty young girl.
Just buy an L34 or A9X. They are already ugly, so it doesn't matter.

Its your project mate, so please yourself. We all have different tastes, and nobody's opinion matters anymore than anyone else's.
I reckon it would be better to broaden the whole rear quarter below the c pillar tapering in to the door and to the tail panel and maintain the original guard line over the wide wheels. And just let the fronts protude, with no flares.

Wide body sounds great uncle Farmer! Even if it was wide body above the swadge and not so much bellow could be onteresting?

I love the wide body but getting the aesthetic balance right the main thing.
That blue strip light doesn't quite do it for me, the rear arch is about an inch or two too high.
But I do like the heavy neg camber in the rear

Its just bolt on flares. A bit too Nissan Patrol for me. Unless its raised 200mm or so and made 4 wheel drive.......with a diesel..... and dual range.......and big square mud tyres. Then it would suit. :lol:

I say do what you want with it, i dont mind flares done right or neg camber on the right car. Those wheels look killer! If your talking to an engineer do as much as you can!

Probably as near impossible to get as a gt. Have you seen those International pick up front guards that look similar to Bellett 1/4's however with a much larger opening and in reverse. I wonder how well a pair of those grafted in would work in the fabricating of new 1/4 panels would go?

I love the debate from all you Guys & Girls!

The reason for the flares will probable be due to rear end conversion and the most of the wheels now are 8in wide standard at a minimum so hence the flares. It doesn't mean that will be the way I go but just wanted the chuck it out there. There will no negative camber, going towards the look of the 240z - 260z look which I really like but the Bellett has a different style as the whole rear will be customised to suit the shortened S15 rear frame and diff Assy as the SR20DET is close to 350-400 HP at the flywheel so the Bellett will go to from 4 stud to 5 stud Nissan front and rear.

I am investigating a custom front end to give me more room in the engine bay to remove the inner shock towers and hopefully a power rack, but we will see about this one.

Still planning and throwing out ideas so feel free to add your opinion as this is a chance to build what I would call the ultimate JDM classic with modern driveline while trying to keep the car as original on the outside as possible.

Also if anyone out there has any GLASS they may be prepared to part with, even if its one spare piece I know most of the collectors of GT are reluctant to part with any parts but any leads would be appreciated. This is my main priority before I get too carried away with the build.

Jeff, where do you live? That might have a bearing on what you can pick up etc re GT parts.

Hi Glenn,

I live in Adelaide, most of the guys here aren't selling which is understandable, but I will search high and low, my worry is buying out of Japan for front and rear glass and it arrives damaged. Side glass I could get cut with samples but I still need the frames & quarter windows for the doors and rear quarter frames.

Not many GT's get parted out which is why these parts will be hard to find. Glass from interstate will run risk of damage also i guess.
At least you can crack on with the rest of the GT in meantime.
