I am finally getting a GT thanks to a couple of members on the this forum, so in a couple of weeks I will be a new owner of a GT Project.

Here is a pic of the new engine which will be the basis of the project as the GT is not complete at all so I have free rain to do as I please, so please don't crucify me too much wavering away from an original car.

I will keep you informed as the project progresses.

Many years back I put a DOHC Toyota (gasp) 2TG, bored to 1750cc, motor and 5 speed into a GT.... the white GT that was mine and been around a little bit since departing from Vic. ..Vic, QLD, SA, back to Vic
In those early days getting an Isuzu DOHC was a dream but later it did come about. The toyota had the same problem and although I did a lot of mods to the sump, the oil pickup was a big problem.

Perhaps there is some mix and match available though for the Nissan, to move the pickup rearwards?

I have a question, does anyone know what the front and rear track measurements are from drum to drum or disc to disc. Reason being to fit the SR20DET is to try and fit a Gemini front end and a Pulsar GTIR rear end but need to know the track measurements to also assist with minimal sump conversion and handle the increased horse power.

Is the motor from a GTiR also? I had one back in 90's and a great engine, hearing those 4 throttle bodies suck air is Music ! The lighter Bellett should go even harder.

Glenn, the engine is the same but rear wheel drive not front wheel drive as fitted to a GTIR so a good match. The only concern is the GTIR is mainly a front wheel drive, I am investigating if the stock diff can handle the power directly rather than the split drive of a standard GTIR. Will keep everyone informed.

Bellett front end is much better than a Gemini when the correct mods are done.

PR91, I would like to know about the mods to the standard front end if you could provide some pics that would be appreciated, my concerns is brakes so hence the reason for the Gemini due to availability of larger brake kits due to increased horsepower.

Thanks for the comments, I am still getting my head around what is the best option when it comes to drive train as I would prefer to do this once so any advice on what others have done to handle high horsepower, please feel free to comment.

I would think the GTiR rear would be fine. After all these cars were rallied with huge power increases and I imagine, mods also the front rear drive bias.

I think only the GTiR engine had the four throttle bodies though ?

As for brakes, 4 wheel disc with big 4 spot front calipers is easier than most will ever realise.
They stop my race car, so they'll stop by Bellett all day long.

Cool, will be interesting conversion, I have a FJ20 gearbox in my Bellett and it was an easy fit.. the SR box is a bit longer.. so many custom mods can be done but the double wishbone front end on the Bellett is Awesome... so much better than the Gemini front end, need a few more pics of the GT... wish i had one.

standard diff will cop it easy. they are massive inside.
if a 340hp turbo rotary with 10" wide slicks under a race car won't bust a diff, then a SR20 on road tyres won't.
weak link is the 4 little bolts that connect the half shafts to the axles tho....

Finally picked up the GT shell so the fun starts. I just need the quarters now to get it looking like a GT again. A big thanks to OZ & Craig.

If anyone can help with glass for the whole car as you can see there is none. I have been searching on Yahoo Japan and have found glass but not sure how successful it would be to ship home.

Pick up my gearbox on Saturday so will post once I have the engine sitting in the bay to see what issues will arise.
