Grumble bum is starting to give a little cheek but i still have the upper hand she is starting to get the chair moving pretty quick . She took a little wheel chair road trip down to see maggie and put a closure her little event. She has gone through the photo's taken and dealing with the reflection of the accident as it has taken a little head space for her.

cheers Davo the car thing is a little sad it was a pretty clean ol girl as you can see no bog fell out. Lizzie has had a few issues she still has her ups and downs today she had lunch with the cjcc for our christmas party and a few people that we race with were there and the other people we race against that we got to know makes it hard to give the sport up.

I have to admit it shook me a little also but the decission is the blue car is developing nicely taking second in class under 1600cc in the last 3 events being leyburn sprints,pitsworth sprints and 2nd in one run only at noosa. We got 2nd in nsw hillclimb championship in sports sedan on a point system so the car has potential with a new engine with some more mods then the last engine in lizzies car that went quite well i am told in it's short 5km life

So the moral of the story we want to continue the gypsy lifestyle and frienships that were made in the last few years so i have to toughen up put some more safety equipment i.e full cage and a better seat with head support fit the new engine and drive it the best we can. As for Lizzie she is a tuff little bugger and will gain the courage one day to race the blue car on a casual basis. At first i feel she calls the grafton track her home track and i feel with there support and a few slow runs the challange for a better time will stir her competitive nature. If or when this happens we have a couple of cars stored in the event that a car had a big whoops but for now we intend to build the blue car to a quicker and much safer car.

BOTH LIZ AND MYSELF WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPOURTUNITY TO THANK THE PEOPLE THAT P.M'ED PHONED, SENT LETTERS/CARDS AND WERE THERE FOR US WHEN OUR LIVES WERE A LITTLE SHOOK UP. I am not a racer but can't help but think that the way that wall just ends, is realy stupid. It would have been much better for it to curve away gradually from the track instead ?

Good to hear the spirits are up and a new drive is on the cards.

The things that come to your attention later is that a complaint was put in from a guy that does track inspections for cams and it was ignored. We were told after Liz hit it the wall another panel was put in and not long after a open wheeler did the same as Liz and he walked away with a destroyed car. A very lucky man i would say .

I take my hat off to anyone who lives with a disabled person it's the little things like twice as long to do anything at all. The emotional breakdowns Liz has when she is stuck can't reach anything. Trying to do anything is hard i know if it was a full time thing you would modify the house to suit but it takes a lot more effort to do anything. I am lucky enough that Liz is strong minded and can see it could be a lot worse and it is only 3 months of her life and we can sit back and have a chuckle here and there. Not that it is funny but if you can have a joke about the situation keeps the mood higher.

It has had some positive sides you have a little more respect for doing things a little safer which i hardly ever do Liz has had the opertunity to catch up and make contact with frends and family issues that may have been neglected ect. It has been time to step out of the square and our normal life and plan a future of things we want to see and do and not take as many things for granted.
I am far from being a preacher but sometimes in life you have step out and have a good think of what is happening and what you want to happen before it is too late.
Take ten minutes tonight to think you or your partner is paralyzed for life and what regrets you would have and what you would have changed and then fix it.

Great post Greg, it certainly does give you time to think about all sorts when your helping a Loved one in need, I went through that a few years back before Peg was on my scene, Dad was over sea's and Mum broke her ankle the week before she herself was due to meet up with Dad O/S. Both yourself and Lizzie are very strong willed people and you will both come thru this testing time with flying colors mate, Lots of Love and very best wishes to you both now and always from Peg and myself

Well folks as you can see Greg's taking care of the better looking half, he can't wait to get her out of the wheelchair. It was a top day all round, always good to catch up with nice people around a table of good food and good conversation, it was great to see Liz making the effort to attend, hope all goes well with the next lot of X-rays on the 20th. We missed Lewis' GSP on the way back, we took a wrong turn and found ourselves going through the tunnel under the Brisbane river, instead of over the gateway. The smile on Alan's face when he got the Christmas present from Davo delivered, rear springs. That's a project for the New Year I take it.

Had to bypass those chilling pics of the hard hit. But we are all happy to see you guys relaxing and smiling in the next photo. It looks as if it's all upwards from here on, and time will heal and bring life back to some normality.

Hey Greg, while you're getting some wheelchair time, see if you can master the wheelie.

My mate's in a wheelchair and when we were in school, he'd hop out (he's got cerebral palsy and can use crutches for short commutes or things like going to the loo) and I'd hop in and cruise around the school on the back wheels. Only almost cracked my skull a couple of times!

Good to see she's on the mend; the car... well... it couldn't have been hit in a worse spot. A few inches either way and she'd have probably walked away... The luck of the draw, I guess.

Yep the drivers door any other part of the car and the biggest issue would be building another car . This has made us have a good think of what the future brings us in 2013 and we decided to still race the blue car we have booked the car in for the other half of the cage and we will try to get the seat off the door a little. This is not so easy trying to find a narrow seat the fits a average size bloke but with a few mods i can get 3 inches between the door and seat. For the rear seat mounts i will channel between the pillar and gearbox hump with 2X1 box. The other thing that needs to be looked at is not to hit anything

well, made it back from the hospital today.
mixed feelings....
2 of the 3 breaks in my pelvis are healed and so is my right foot.
BUT
the main break in the back part of my pelvis is still loose. still have my wheelchair for another month.
no walking, i do have cruches so i can paddle around the house, no driving, no nudge nudge wink wink.
more rest, hard at this time of the year.
at least im here.
back to the hospital on the 20 January.
