Christmas Cruise

Post by 2ldohc »

Hi All,

There has been some mumblings about a Christmas Cruise and this warrants a thread.

Christmas isn't far away and with the weather becoming clearer (I know it's raining today) it would be great to get the Adelaide Bellett boys together for a hills run or down to Victor/Cape Jervois or Clare or .... I'm open to suggestions for dates, places, and times but to put a couple out there:

Sunday November 21st or 28th or the 12th of December...

Sunday has worked well in the past and we can cruise any direction... Back to Lobethal, down the Victor, Clare Valley, Tanunda, Strath...

My vote is for the 28th of November heading out to Strath then on to Pt Elliott if the weather is great...

Please respond and let me know if we can make this happen one last time for 2010!

Cheers,
R.

I found a sick backstreet cruise from Happy Valley through to McLaren Vale.... we could incorporate that.

Ratter sniffed it out for me this arvo!

Having said that, I only worked it from McLaren back home... may need a GPS to re-create the trip in reverse without ending up in Gawler...

My mate who owns the winery in Cadell is still keen for a 'phallanx of Belletts' to visit him one day...not for the Christmas run, but keep it in mind for the future. If I get a Bellett one day, I'll organise it myself.

Thanks, Duane we'll have to take him up on that offer one day. I know that Dave isn't a wine drinker but I certainly don't mind a drop or two. Cadell would be a fair drive in the Belletts but would make for some great footage and photo's along the way :D

From memory, he also has a pontoon on the river and wood-fire pizza oven! Might be nice to line it up with his annual open day, which is October every year...so hopefully I'll be able to participate by then! 8-)

@ oz: Decisions, decisions, eh Chris? I recommend whichever goes best with your shoes.

Hi all, yep should be good for this date.

Dave - I can help with the roads through McLaren Vale if you want to go that way - some good winding roads and nice scenery... What is the plan for lunch? My winery serves lunches but may be a bit exxy for what we're after (bit more fine-dining than your average chicken parmi...).

Hey Ross - Cadell a long way in a Bellett you say? Who you kidding -that's just around the corner compared to where we've just been!

Yeah, trip to Melbourne not so bad for a bunch of oldies.....teheeehe !

Also free on the 28th, would be a pleasure to B another GT too. But would also consider Sat. 27th if Rob could be there, much to catch up on.

And if you're looking for a seat I'll personally rock past. Looks like I'm doing my thing that day so the passenger seat is free !! Now THAT'S scary.

Hey dudes, I wholeheartly recommend the cafe that is in a train in McLaren Vale. They people there are always nice, the food is tasty and they serve breakfast all day!

Paul might know them being a (business hours) local. I hope they're not freaky Satanists or anything, but every meal I've had there has been awesome so I'm keen!

Excellent, looks like it's all coming together.

I'm keen for the cafe train in McLaren Vale as a lunch stop over and we should be able to take a pretty nice back route to get there, maybe still via the beach :)

Thanks for the responses!

Not with Bella though.

I will be looking to hitch a ride with anybody willing.

Gee Rob, how did you manage to wangle the day off !! My previous offer stands, passenger seat in "blue beastie" will be free and I'll be delighted to have you in it. We can catch up on your eventfull trip to Coona and get a first hand feel of what you can do with one of these engines with a few basic mods. Feel free to pm for time and place.
