Bellett/Wasp chassis manual "irregularity"....

Got a joke you want to share? Or a picture so hilarious you have to show someone or you'll die? Share here but keep it (relatively) clean!

Bellett/Wasp chassis manual "irregularity"....

Post by PR91 »

with thanks to a well known Bellett enthusiast, and a top bloke to boot, a small few of us know about this, but i was just wondering how many in the wider Bellett/Wasp world know of the funny.... correction, hilarious.... description of an item in the Bellett/Wasp chassis workshop manual?

i've put this thread in the "off topic nonsense" section as it's relates to a picture, and it's comical at least!
put it this way, i think it's a classic example of "japanese text to english translation, and something being lost along the way...."

if u have a chassis manual, it's in the section on Wasp brakes, page 10-54, figure 54.... read it closely.

if enuf people request a scanned copy to be posted (as they might not have a manual to look at), i'll scan mine, but i'll let those that can look at it comment first.... due to it's content!
but everyone please remember that even tho i've brought this to the attention of all here, i don't think it's appropriate for anyone to then repeat the chassis manual's "irregularity" in their post/s on bellett.net. full stop. period.

i'm not saying any more!

As hilarious as it looks its not in all respects an error in printing or translation as the original meaning of the word as used in musical and engineering terms (no longer used today because of all the giggling in the back rows) is along the lines of "to strike a note" or "critical point of change/axis".
In music the F**K note is the most important note that must be struck at precisely the right time and that which denotes a critical change in the music.
In engineering it is the critical point of axis or precise possition of an axis to bear a load or stress.
So if the 'F**K points' either side of the locating nut are not square to it, as the top figure shows and is fitted at an angle/bent as the bottom figure shows then the 'F**K points' or critical points of change/axis for bearing the load are compromised and could result in failure of mechanism.
Basicly, if you don't get the F**K right it's F**Ked.

That's my pointless trivia for today.

I was one of those giggling in the back row.
