I'd hazard a guess at Rodeo Diesel? The starter is on the same side as the twincam unit but that's one hell of a remote shifter :)

Only a complete guess though.

another guess but possibly an Isuzu Lite Elf as they ran a 1600 low compression motor or 1800 deisel same side starter motor as g150 ,g160,g161 petrol engines & 1800 deisel !!!!!

Isn't it 117? What size is the DOHC?

I finally found this pic of a rodeo MUA5 gearbox (comes standard on the 4ZE1), its shown sitting next to a gemini g series MSG box, and yep, it aint one of those. I dont know what the rodeo diesel looks like though, either like this with the starter on the other side, or a different beast altogether.
