I bet it sounded as good as it looked! Plenty of vehicles I have no idea about, each one no douby very special to it's owner.
Thanks for the snapshot.

CD is right, Rolie has been built for the Goodwood Revival, the Festival is a very different kettle of fish.
Both events are organised by Lord March and his Goodwood company, but that's pretty much where the similarities end.
The Festival is open to all eras and types of competition cars, but the actual competition element is pretty minimal, it's more of a 'moving motor show'......quite a few cars make runs up the single track hill, but only a few are in a timed competition. I was lucky to watch Nick Heidfeld set the unofficial fastest ever ascent in an F1 car a few years ago....scarey.

The Revival, however, is a proper race meeting set over 3 days, but ran on the circuit itself (a mile or so from the Festival hill). It is only open to cars that did or could have competed there when it was a commercial circuit (1947 to 1966, I think) Hence Rolie and my interest in Mr B McLaren. This is the link to the Festival and Revival website, if anyone's interested.

There's a few good videos on it worth looking at

festival of speed does seem to be about the flasher side of motorsport, the revival meet seem to have the peoples cars.
though after talking to a few guy's at the f.o.s escorts are becoming a pretty pricey thing, about 400 gbp($7000 or so au dollars)will buy a rusty shell of a normal mk1/mk11 no motor or gearbox!!
the only mini's and escort's(bda ones)i saw at the meet were rally cars pics to come

Great photos, I must just highlight the V16 BRM (about 8 photos up). A wonderful motor racing failure....the engine and gearbox were just too complex. (16 cylinders@1500cc)

But there was nothing complicated about the sound they made......for those that have never heard a V16 BRM, or for those who just want to feel the hairs on the back of their neck stand up again....
